Huntr
Ground control for your job hunt
By January 2018 Huntr had over 15k registered users and $500 in monthly revenue, all coming from individual job seekers upgrading to the paid product. Not even close to ramen profitability, but I had saved up enough to give me over a year runway, so I decided to make the jump.
I had noticed a lot of students from tech academies and colleges signing up and sharing their boards with advisors, so the plan for the next 3 months was to build an MVP for a 'Huntr Advisor' product. The tool would allow organizations like tech bootcamps, colleges and career advising companies to offer job seekers a tracking product and get them visibility into their job seekers' progress.
After the Product Hunt feature I spent the next 3 to 4 months on polishing the product based on feedback from all the new users. I was still working nights and weekends, and the product was completely free up to this point. On August 2017 I decided to add paid plans, launched the premium and plus plans at the end of September 2017 and got my first paying customer on October 1!

Had worked on Huntr as a side project for 2 months before the PH feature. Was planning on submitting on a specific date but got hunted by a friend. I freaked out for a bit, but it worked out in the end! Got about 5k users from the PH exposure, which started the path that would eventually have me go full time on Huntr.

I want to build tools that help job seekers. Companies in the recruiting space focus on building tools for employers and recruiters, leaving a big gap for high quality products for job seekers.

Hi @renniehaylock, liked your chrome extension. Was wondering, how the extension is going now? Was curious to know how the revenue has progressed through the years?
Knowing that when someone gets a job they stop job hunting, what is the life time value of your customers?
This has been one of the biggest challenges in growing revenue. The average time users stay in the platform is around 4 months. So LTV is around $32, since my basic paid plan is $8. With that said, I have noticed a few users coming back a year later when they are going through a new job search, so maybe in 5 years I'll find out that my LTV is much higher :) Another, much more stable, source of income is a product for organizations helping job seekers find jobs (colleges, tech academies, career coaches, etc), essentially it's like a 'group pricing' offering of Huntr, plus a management dashboard to manage all their job seekers.
What is your CAC for this?
