Hey Indie Hackers community! 👋
I'm thrilled to share a major milestone in our journey with Hyvor Blogs. We've officially hit 200€ MRR, and it's all thanks to the incredible support from our users and our small team.
When we started this journey, we had a vision of creating an all-in-one blogging platform that empowers bloggers and content creators. Today, reaching 200€ MRR is a testament to the hard work of our team and the value that Hyvor Blogs is bringing to our users.
Here are some highlights of our journey so far.
As I mentioned in my previous 18$ MRR -> 70$ MRR milestone post, we did lots of shots in the dark of marketing. Lost lots of money and time until we found the best marketing strategy suitable for us. As I do digital marketing for Hyvor, I still had a thought about using ads again right after we hit 70$MRR. Nonetheless, I continued to run our blog as usual until we came up with a new idea.
Until then, we have been writing for competitive topics like "Start a blog" which are difficult to rank but has a huge search volume. At that time all I was thinking why write easy to rank + low search volume topics rather than writing topics with high search volumes and working towards ranking them.
Unfortunately I was wrong. Few days later while @supunio and I was keyword researching, we found a keyword "apps for blogging" with a search volume between medium - low. And we thought of just giving it a try because our writing for keywords with large volumes did not work much. So Supun wrote the article for that keyword. Here is the blog post 8 Best Apps for Blogging in 2024. And I optimised the article and did on-page, off-page SEO tricks in order to make it ranking among the highest ranking search results.
You know what? it worked🥳! The article was ranked among first 3 and traffic was flawing to that article and users started to notice Hyvor Blogs. They started to try Hyvor Blog and some of them stayed with Hyvor Blogs.
Therefore I started to look for easy to rank keywords related to our domain and publish informative interesting articles on our blog.
With a little more work, I think we are doing good with our new strategy in marketing. So, cheers to content marketing!!!
So, I suggest anyone struggling with marketing out there, try content marketing rather than spending much on ads. Because it is way more permanent according to my opinion. Let me know how it goes for you.

Our robust link analysis tool is here to help you identify broken links easily. It comes with 2 separate features.

The first feature is the link analyzer in the post editor. It gives real-time feedback for you as you write your post. This will help you publish your blog post without any broken links. This checks for internal, external, and even anchor links in your post.
2. Automated full-blog link analysis
Links break over time. Our bi-weekly (run every 14 days) full-blog analysis checks for all links in your posts and provides you with a report in Console > Tools > Link Analysis.

🖌️ Google Fonts, Locally
Until now, changing theme fonts has been a nightmare where you have to deal with multiple CSS files, @font-face rules, uploading assets, etc. Or, you had to use a third-party service like Google Fonts, which comes with a privacy liability.
Now all those issues are fixed with our new theme fonts feature. It combines the simplicity of Google Fonts and the privacy of locally hosting the fonts. All the fonts (CSS and font files) are served directly from your domain - no requests are sent to Google or any other third party.
📝 Tables Support
Hyvor Blogs' post editor now supports adding tables.
Plus, you can customize the tables as you prefer.
Note on table styles - All official themes have been upgraded to support table styles. If you have a new theme, you may upgrade it from the Console. If you have done many template customizations, you may have to add styles manually. See this pull request on GitHub for the styles to add to your theme to support tables.

We have used WordPress, Ghost, Webflow and other popular platforms that blogger use to blog. None of them are not just made for blogging as we all know: for website building, e-commerce sites, blogging, etc. So, we thought of an all-in-one blogging platform that is dedicated only for blogging.
Therefore we started development just 2 years ago in order to create an answer for the question that we had. Along all this time of 2 years, we developed so many features. Some of them were,
- Multi-language supported (Including auto translation with one click)
- Right-to-left (RTL) language supported blogging
- Fully-customizable free and open-source themes
- In-built SEO
- Powerful blog console to manage the blog in every possible way (including team collaboration)
- Data privacy and ownership
- Developer friendly blogging platform (Data, Delivery, Console APIs and Webhooks plus Framework integrations like Laravel, Symfony, Next.js, etc.)
- Easy custom domains set up
With all that, we had a free plan along with paid subscriptions. We thought that the free plan will make things work and we will get paid customers eventually. And yes many users came to Hyvor Blogs and started blogging but it was a BIG NO for converting to premium plans. At the same time we realised it was not sustainable at all with all the maintenance cost we had.
Hence, Hyvor Blogs became a fully premium blogging platform.
With all that being said, I must mention that we tried bunches of marketing strategies. Like content marketing, Google ads, Twitter ads, Reddit ads, Facebook ads, Bing ads, link building, collaborations with other blogs, etc.
Plus, we tried Appsumo's life time deal. And that brought us lots of customers who bought that life time deal. We earned more than 2750$. We got lots of reviews from Appsumo buyers. After several days passed, we realised that Appsumo was a double-edged sword in our case. Therefore we stopped the lifetime deal.
I will post more about our Appsumo deal and how it went through another new post.
The market where Hyvor Blogs lies is huge, and highly competitive. Even when it comes to ads WordPress, Squarespace, Wix are bidding higher for different different essential keywords.
When it comes to content marketing, most of the keywords are highly competitive too.
However, we are still struggling to do our best in this competitive market but yet we are happy to have 2 paid users!
