June 24, 2025 Launched IdeaGraveyard.dev - A Place to Give Your Abandoned Projects a Dignified End

Hey IH community!

After a couple of months of building in public (quietly!), I'm thrilled to launch the MVP of my new project: IdeaGraveyard.dev.

The Problem:
We all have them: the "graveyard" folder of side projects. We invest time, energy, and hope, but for one reason or another (burnout, new shiny object, market validation fail), they get abandoned. These projects contain valuable lessons that end up collecting digital dust.

The Solution:
IdeaGraveyard.dev is a platform to give these projects a public, dignified resting place. It allows you to document the idea, the story, and the reasons for its demise, turning private failure into public knowledge.

MVP Features:

  • GitHub-only login (to keep the community developer-focused).

  • A simple form to "Erect a Tombstone" for your idea.

  • A public "graveyard" to browse the stories behind other failed projects.

My goal wasn't to build a complex platform, but to validate one core loop: Will developers find value and closure in documenting their "dead" ideas?

My Question for You:
As seasoned builders, your feedback is invaluable.

  1. Does this resonate with you? Do you have a project you'd consider "burying"?

  2. I'm planning the P1 features now. What would be more valuable next: a voting/revival system, or a simple comment section?

The first entry is the story of IdeaGraveyard.dev itself, embracing the fact that it could one day end up here too.

Check it out and let me know your thoughts!

About

I built this because my own ~/Projects/graveyard folder was getting depressing. It was full of abandoned projects, and I felt the lessons I learned from them were being wasted. Idea Graveyard is a simple site to give tho
