Few years ago I've stumbled upon a product very similar to the one I'm working on here. It was nearly perfect (plasing UI, very good UX, and a reasonable pricing model). Being available only in English was this product's single flaw. Sadly, since then, the product was discontinued πŸ’”

Before proceeding to blindly build the product I've built the courage to DM the original founder and ask if he's planning a relaunch (and if not, what was the reason behind shutting it down).

Turns out, he and his business partner decided to part ways and all of their products were gone. We've chatted for a while and he showed me a product with a similar feature set (albeitly not as pretty), with an interesting pricing model: instead of a subscription, you pay upfront for a single roadmap (regardless of the number of users or ideas submitted).

May 18, 2021 Where it all started

Recently I've been shopping around for a tool (to aid the development of my other product), where users could submit ideas/feature requests, vote on them, and be able to view the development roadmap (a queue of upcoming features and things that are already implemented), but didn't find anything that would suit me.

All of the tools I've tested were either:

πŸŽ› unnecessarily complicated (geared towards project managers),
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ available only in English,
πŸ€‘ or very, very expensive (out of reach for a typical bootstrapper).

I started to think that this might be a good exercise for building in public.

About

I was looking for a roadmap/customer feedback collection tool for my other product, but all of the available solutions were unnecessarily complicated, available only in English, and/or very, very expensive.
