IdeaVerdict

I built an AI tool that validates startup ideas

July 9, 2026 I built an AI that tells you why your startup idea won't work (and I ran it on myself first)

The thing that kills the most time when building something new isn't the build itself. It's not knowing early enough that an idea wasn't worth building. You get weeks in before realizing the market didn't want it, someone already did it better, or the business model doesn't hold up.

So I built IdeaVerdict — you describe your idea, and instead of getting encouragement, you get an honest teardown: market reality, competition, whether the business model actually works, and a clear verdict (build it, pivot it, or kill it).

I tested it on one of my own ideas first — [drop a real one-line example here, e.g. "a Slack summarizer for remote teams" and what it told you]. It killed it, and it was right.

It's live at ideaverdict.app if you want to run your own idea through it — first one's free.

Genuinely curious what other builders here would want it to check that it doesn't yet (pricing sanity checks? competitor depth? technical feasibility?). Building this in public and want it to actually be useful, not just brutal for the sake of it.

One thing I'd be careful of is making the verdict the product.

Founders rarely struggle because they lack opinions. They struggle because they don't know which evidence deserves the most weight. If the reasoning behind the verdict consistently earns trust, people will accept conclusions they don't necessarily want to hear.

Exactly. That was one of the core ideas behind IdeaVerdict. Most founders don't need another opinion—they need a structured way to weigh evidence and challenge their own assumptions. The goal isn't just to generate a verdict, but to make the reasoning transparent enough that users can understand, question, and ultimately trust the recommendation, even when it isn't the answer they were hoping for.

I think we're looking at the same problem from slightly different angles.

Your reply raised a question about the reasoning model you're building that I'd rather discuss in the context of IdeaVerdict than reduce to a generic comment.

If you're open to that conversation, what's the best email to reach you on?

            Thanks, Lucia—I appreciate that.

I don't use LinkedIn very much, and I'd rather send you a thoughtful write-up than a few scattered messages.

If email is easier, what's the best address to reach you on?
