Indie Stickers

New shops are being submitted daily so I thought a monthly newsletter featuring the new shops from that month would be a good idea. I added a sign up form to the site and posted to the various sticker subreddits. I also emailed the shops that have been added to the site so far.

When I launched the site I added a donate button in the header. After 4 days of having the site live, one of the store owners donated £5 and explained they'd try and donate every month. I wasn't expecting to make any money on the site (initially anyway), so this was a surprise!

I launched IndieStickers.com. Basic functionality is complete and the initial set of stores were added to the site.

I posted to the subreddits I initially reached out to to garner interest and let them know I followed through and made the site. I also emailed the initial set of shops to let them know their site was live.

After confirming interest in the site I just wanted to pull a quick site together, without spending too much time. It's easy to get into the habit of starting a project and never launching anything. So I went with a tech stack I was used to and only did the minimum needed to launch, no unneeded features.

My stack:
React
Next.JS
Tailwind
Daisy UI
Supabase
Netlify for hosting

I bought some gear to make stickers. As a software developer, working behind a computer all week left me with the need to create something physical (and who doesn’t love stickers!?). When browsing Reddit I noticed a lot of small sticker shop owners were struggling to promote their shop against larger shops.

I didn't want to start work on a project that would have no interest, so I posted to Reddit with a sign up form for interested shops. This confirmed there was interest in a sticker store directory, so I began building!
