InfiniDesk now supports 🤖 automation: you can make other apps or processes tell InfiniDesk to change the desktop contents on your Mac!
Let Apple Shortcuts, AppleScript, Terminal, or other apps like Raycast, Alfred, BetterTouchTool and Keyboard Maestro change the Desktop View as part of your workflow. InfiniDesk creates a handy local web page on your desktop with automation instructions. 👉 Tip: click "Automate Switching..." when in the Desktop View options menu!
And, Follow Spaces Mode in the app has been improved to work with macOS 27. As a bonus, this mode now works all the way back to macOS 11. Apple Silicon and Intel are still both supported.
Version 3 of the app is in active development, and more automation features are being added.
Just released: you can switch your desktop contents on Mac by pressing global hotkey combinations! For example, switch to Desktop 1 by pressing "Command ⌘ + 1" from anywhere!
In this version, you can hide the desktop widgets on whichever Desktop View you like.
Other features: Text boxes in the app now support Copy, Paste and Emoji input from the Mac Emoji & Symbols viewer. A recovery mode has been added to disable the app, even if you cannot see the app in the Mac menu bar. And, the app has been localised to Spanish, Romanian and Japanese.
Now you can make InfiniDesk a compact icon in the menu bar, instead of showing the full name of the current Desktop View! Great if your menu bar is already crowded.
Give a Desktop View a custom icon, by putting a unicode character before the name:
U+1F680 Product Launch ----> displays as ----> 🚀 Product Launch

Four months after the release of InfiniDesk 1, I launched the next major version of InfiniDesk! Version 2 incorporates feedback from early users and the r/MacApps Reddit community.
There are three main additions! ❶ Now you can set a unique wallpaper for each of your virtual desktops. ❷ A new "Follow Spaces" mode has been added which changes the desktop contents based on the Space selected in Mission Control. Finally, ❸ German and French localisations (contributed by friends) of the app interface now exist.
The app continues to be popular in the US and Germany!
