Infinite Waves Newsletter

I've published a few more issues since my last update. This week also saw the intriduction of the Monday issue, which I've labelled as an 'AI snapshot'. It's writings on news and points of interest in AI from the previous week.
I've also started a more structured and directed approach to Twitter, aiming more for long threads that are more insightful and interesting.
Issue #5 currently stands at 822 views, the highest (by a long way) of any issue so far. In fact, more than all of the previous issues combined.
I've also started writing some posts on DEV and Hashnode.

I have now published the second and third issues. The first issue was a super basic definition of Artificial Intelligence I took from researchers at MIT. The idea was to start at the most fundamental, concise, and straightforward point of understanding, assuming no prior knowledge. I termed it as a 'series', which are going to be offshoots that contain a series of related posts siloed inside the main corpus of the newsletter. This allows me to keep the content broad, in the main, whilst drilling down into specific areas of AI, keeping a tidy thematic structure.

The third issue was a look at the AI pursuits of NVIDIA including a brief history and showing how Indie Hackers can get involed in AI development through NVIDIA's Deep Learning Institute.

I have also been thinking about new types of content and the schedule they might follow. I settled on the idea of releasing two issues per week (starting from Monday). A weekly roundup of AI news on a Monday, and an in-depth report/feature on an area of AI on a Thursday.

Twitter strategy

I have been chipping away at Twitter content and over the past week or so have got to 63 followers. The Tweets, though, have been sporadic and something of a scatter bomb approach.

So now I have decided to tie my tweets more specifically to the newsletter content and will have scheduled relelvant Tweet threads that have call to actions to my newsletter issues. For example doing an AI news thread on a Monday to link into the news roundup issue to be published on the same day.

Focus

The primary focus for the next few weeks is to build up the catalogue of issues and aim to get 10 quality installments published and then to put more effort into getting eyes on the content and looking at broader and more in-depth ways of marketing the newsletter. But it seems prudent to focus on having some quality content first, and keeping the marketing to a simple Twitter strategy, whilst I am building the routine of consistently shipping the issues.

After having a Google Meet with Przemek Chojecki I transcribed and did a write up on Contentyze. I created some graphics to accompany the text and after a few proof reads it was ready to go.

Of course I'll be sending out mostly free content intially to build up subscribers.

Through Indie Hackers and Twitter I managed to get 6 subscribers before I launched, and just got another new subscriber after publication.

First time using Substack. Great platform, really nice to use. I've got a call arranged for tomorrow with someone from the Indie Hackers Podcast. It's Przemek Chojecki from #175. It was a great episode and inspired me to narrow my focus to a project in the AI industry. Przemek agreed to have a brief chat with me about his product, Contentyze. I'll then do a write up and it will become the first post of my newsletter.
I got the idea to start a newsletter from @csallen when he did the 'Run with it' episode on the 8th January. I bought Newsletter OS Janel (Twitter: @JanelSGM), that Courtland recommended.
At the weekend I put the ideas/learning from the past few years into practise and got the newsletter started.
