January 26, 2021 Became an Apple Small Business partner - 15% fees.

In Jan 2021 Apple accepted my application to their small business program. The benefit is Apple gives you a discount on their traditional 30% commission - reducing it to 15%.

Which is great - and I need to thank the people who made this possible - that's the Epic Games and their brain dead move to get kicked out of the eco-system because they thought they were so BIG they could just complain and get a better deal on the commission. Apple gave Epic a head shot. And they are still in court...

I find 30% a great deal - for free Dev Tools - APIs - everything + the best business system open for you as a small developer - it's a great deal.

January 3, 2021 Got my first check from Apple App Store!

It takes a while for the bucks to roll in... but after a while and some social marketing we made our first $100 in the App Store.

If this would keep consistent for several months or a year I'd consider this very good income from a card app.
But I expect this is beginners luck.

October 15, 2020 Launched in the Apple App Store!

I learned tons of new stuff... mostly that putting an App in the Apple Store is a lot of screen shots and image creations to make a good first impression - it's Marketing / NOT coding. So you have to put on a very different hat and get creative. I enjoyed it - but it's not my every day cup of tea.

I learned that the SwiftUI framework is ready for prime time and makes App Dev real easy (ok, much easier than UIKit). I'm now learning to Test Drive my App Designs (TDD) and can teach you how if you want to follow along https://www.theswiftdojo.com/videos-to-watch

September 19, 2020 The Inspiration for InspireMe! Cards App

I was on line - probably scrolling on twitter - when someone asked Lyssa Adkins when they would make an App from the physical card deck. I saw this request and responded - that I'd do it.

Since Lyssa knew me (we had done work together) she reached out, saying that it was a common request. And she had been waiting for someone to come along that wanted to take it on without a lot of effort on her part.

So I said YES! and started work on it in Aug. 2020.

About

I wanted to learn Swift UI and the eco-system. So I took a few Swift programming courses started working on tutorial apps. But that only takes you so far... looking for deeper experience meant a real APP.
