Minimize distractions with mindful app usage

We spent a few weeks working on and learning about GUI desktop applications. There's a lot of different interesting nuances like creating an installer, automatically distributing updates, creating license keys for the application, and finding a sales platform.
About
Intent helps you practice mindful computer usage. Blocking access to distracting apps can be very effective. However, we often need to use those same apps to do our work.

Hey @danielchen this is a great idea. How did you come up with the solution? I can see why making the screen a neutral grey colour would work. I've signed up and happy to give it a go.
Have you done the application for both Windows and Mac? Notorisation is an absolute pain! I worked on a desktop application for both Mac and Windows, it's truly a pain to deal with all the updates, licences etc. But in the end you come out of with a ton of knowledge and experience.
Hi @Nakkeeran. Thanks for your interest. I'll send over an e-mail with some more details.
The idea comes from the experience of outright blocking a website or app being too restrictive. For example, blocking YouTube sounds a good idea, but I realized that it would be useful for doing research as well. Instead, I wanted something in the middle ground that would allow me to use something, but discourage extraneous use.
So far, it's on Windows. We're developing this app using QT. It helps a lot with the installing/updates. For notarization, are you referring to getting it approved for app stores?
Hey Daniel, thanks for the response.
I agree with your point of not blocking it completely because I use Blocksite for Youtube and still go incognito browser to browse Youtube and get distracted. This middle ground I feel will help users.
Here is a marketing idea, look at tools like Blocksite and see where people have mentioned about it in various forums. Talk to them about Intent. And also another place to talk about Intent is in the productivity forums.
You could also request maybe 10-20 users (maybe students) to be part a experiment to use Intent for a week and see their usage time and repeat frequency time to the apps.
