Interior Mood Boards
Inspiring mood boards, made by pro interior designers
We sold our first pro membership, which is very exciting. That covers our infrastructure costs for a month. Ha!
It's great to see someone interested in what we're doing.
I'm not confident we have product-market fit yet so will let this round of FB ads run and then see what we can do to get a better idea of how to improve our product.
Finally able to get the last few bits and bobs done and have turned on IMB today.
Looking forward to getting it in front of people and finding out if where we stand in terms of value for customers.
Next steps are to market and try to convert more customers into the funnel.

Hey all,
Working with my wife and her business partner to add some extra sales/marketing funnels to their arsenal to help them grow their interior design consultancy business.
Interior mood boards is just one of the ideas we have about how we can reach more people and provide value on both a local and larger scale.
Here’s the URL: https://www.interiormoodboards.com
Do you think we've communicated the value of IMB?

Do people know they want interior mood boards or is the interior mood board a solution for a problem? I would consider leading with the problem and explain how you solve for it through the mood board.

Good point - definitely mood boards are the solution not the problem. I'll need to think how to reframe that top header text.
Thanks

Hi Patrick,
It's a nice niche. Is there a way you can add testimonials - how someone's life changed or how they got inspired by a particular tip etc.. 3-4 such testimonials of real people could add more value. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah we can add testimonials - since it's so early days I don't really have any so I'm hesitant to put fake ones at the risk of damaging the brand. Does that make sense?

Yeah, of course. If you can link or embed a case study or a research article or anything from a good source that explains the benefits of mood boards, thar could provide the same social proof as a testimonial.

I’ve asked my wife to reach out to previous customers specifically with the context of feedback about the mood boards. That should do the trick

Bump
We need to focus on confirming the hypothesis that this will serve a purpose.
The end goal here is to act as a funnel into the interior design consultation that my wife does.

Whilst we continue building the core application we wanted to get a page up to experiment with some Instagram and FB ads.
We've been using the beta of Slix social (http://slixsocial.com/) to help narrow down our target demographics so we're excited to see what comes from that.
Here's the page

For my previous side projects, the early days have been often the hardest.
This time around I'm working with my wife who is in the industry. What a difference it has made to get her insights and make sure I'm building a product that is going to at least meet her needs.
Can't wait for v1.0

Nice man. Make sure to proofread your landing page, it'd make it look more professional - I saw a grammar mistake the moment I opened it.
Also - higher resolution for the pictures in the board PDFs. Your service is graphic-based, so this has a lot of importance.
Good luck!
Thanks! Definitely need to spend some time on the copy.
We're trying to keep the file size small on the PDFs which requires some compromise. We might need to go a bit bigger to keep the quality up.
I love that there are free samples, but buried down there, I think converting from 0 is hard, you can let them subscribe to free samples newsletter and then you will definitely convert at some point..
Yep great point. I'm going to fix the order up so the free ones show up higher in the list
Congrats mate👍💡👌!
👏👏 congratulations patrickgordon!
Hehe congrats !
Congratulations....😊😊😊😊
Congrats!
How much did you spend to acquire that one customer via Fb ads?
They actually came from the previous ad run for the landing page which was ~$5 CPA
Seems really good! The action was buying? (Sorry, not familiar with CPA)
And the membership price they paid was $30?
If you're acquiring them for $5 and they're paying $30, you definitely have product/market fit! You're printing money.
Is it a one-time payment?
Have you tracked how often the first customer comes back to the site? And how long for?
If they retain well to you're definitely on to something.
Cost per acquisition.
The original campaign was low friction - they just needed to provide their email address for when we launched.
The reason I think we don't have product fit is the current post-launch campaign is doing terribly...
And yeah it's a one time payment. Theory there is lower friction means more likely to convert, more likely to convert means more time spent in our drip feed of content which means better chance of converting to a services based customer (interior design business)
Congrats, another source of good word of mouth!
Thanks!
congrats and all the best!
Thank you!
Hey Patrick! That's a huge hurdle, you must be happy. What are your concerns about the product-market fit?
Thanks! Well the conversion rate is very low at this stage. So need to find out what the issues are there. And then tweak.
Great job! ;)
Thanks!
Nice work! :)
Thanks!
Great job! Tell us a bit more about your adventure!
Thanks! I thought of this whilst overseas with my wife. She had just started growing her interior design business and I was thinking of ways to create funnels into that.
I noticed she created lots of these once off single customer assets and figured there’s probably value for other people so we are exploring this now.
I built the web app over about a month or two. Just tinkered away with it after work.
Well done Patrick! it's such a motivating feeling, keep it up :) What's your engagement plan for your early customers?
Given the nature of how we're doing this product it's weekly contact.
Constantly re-affirming the brand and subtly pushing the services business (i.e. consultant).
Thanks :) Looking forward to see how it progresses!
