February 12, 2024 Reaching 2k users

Our growth continues through natural SEO traffic which has been a part of our strategy since the beginning. We've now achieved 2k~ users growing naturally at a couple dozen per day. We've achieved this over the course of 3ish months which is quite strong. Once our SEO channels mature, most likely in 3 - 6 more months we hope to keep driving more and more users.

For example only strategy we are currently employing is generating a ton of blogs around the interviewing domain across several long tail and short tail keywords and then letting them rank over time.

February 7, 2024 Pushing Past 1k MRR

We've been quietly building lately. Our user numbers have doubled, our SEO pages now being ranked are around 2000 pages. Our theoretical MRR right now is around 1.7k due to us having a lot of users on a free months subscription.

Some thing's we've launched to attempt to reduce churn lately:

  • We've increased our number of questions users can practice
  • We've launched Resume AI
  • We've launched Job AI
  • We've launched our AI as a service
  • We've launched Interview GPT

Some things that have helped us grow: We built www.camp.to which is now generated blogs for both this site and www.refer.me driving in traffic which has been super helpful. Once we see our 2000ish pages move to the first page of Google rankings we expect significantly higher growth, but that will just take some time.

December 21, 2023 Celebrating 1000 Users in 2.5 Months

We've officially managed to grow our product to 1k users, and over 500 in MRR. This is a fantastic way to cap off the year with very positive outlook for 2024. Our 1000 users have come pretty organically from various AI tool listings, LinkedIn, Reddit, and various threads. Our SEO plan has been slowly moving, we now have 450 pages on Google with 1.5k more to go. Our latest SEO changes should rank all of our content by end of February at this rate and we expect by Summer to have a large natural pipeline of users being driven to our site through SEO. We also plan to re-launch our ad efforts in the new year which will hopefully drive more growth now that we've cleaned up a lot of our funnels and implemented a lot more features since our launch.

December 7, 2023 Doubling our Growth in 2 Weeks

Our last update was on the 25th of November and we had just over 400 users since the launch of our platform 37ish days prior. Within the last two weeks we've managed to double user growth in less than half the time. This specifically is most likely from being listed on several AI tools, unfortunately these sites aren't our target audience, its more than likely a crowd of individuals who want to try AI tools but not necessarily want to get interview help, similar to posting on here and driving traffic its not our target audience. Its been about 7 weeks since launch and we are still growing our SEO footprint every day. We are starting to see actual incoming users from natural SEO which we hope to be fruitful 6 - 8 months down the line.

November 25, 2023 30 Days Live & 440 New Users

We've now been live for a little over a month. As with starting a new business, being bootstrapped for capital is always a slow journey. We've really only starting growing over the last two weeks which we've seen 300 users come into the platform (we are roughly adding around 20+ sign ups a day). One big factor in our growth at this point is SEO and automated social media postings which is driving us a lot of our traffic since we haven't invested too much into ads or social media sponsorships. As our SEO strategy matures we are excited to see the fruits of our labor with highly targeting organic traffic. Till then though we will continue working on partnerships, generating SEO content, and improving our social media footprint.

As a side note we got into the Microsoft Startup program so we will be using our free ad spend for LinkedIn in the coming week!

November 17, 2023 Experimenting With Ads & Trusting our Klaviyo Email Funnel For MRR Growth

We've recently decided to dabble into Google Ads to take advantage of the spend 500 dollars, get 500 dollars free in ad spend promo they have. It's been about 6 days and so far we've seen 160 new signs ups, we've spent 200 dollars, and we've sold 3 subscriptions. While we technically are losing on ads, we hope our product and subscription model can make up for it more long term on these users. This also gives us a chance to let the Google Tag manager do its thing and pick up on our target audiences better and also gives us opportunity to continuously improve our marketing and ad resources.

What I think is slightly more impactful is that the 160 sign ups are all automatically brought into our Klaviyo sales funnel and over the next 2 months we will continuously have the opportunity to retarget them to make them active on our platform, engage them and upsell our premium services to them through already built flows. Looking forward to reporting back in a few weeks to see where this has brought us!

November 13, 2023 ~100 Sign Ups Over the Weekend

We've started to dabble into Google Ads since SEO is a long game. We spent $120 this weekend on ads, we got about 300 clicks into the site and about 100 sign ups which is really high on conversion when users go to our site. Other those rough 100 we got 1 subscriber at $25 dollars a month. The other users are now in our Klaviyo upsell funnels and we will hope to convert a handful of them through various discounts. We still have about 380 dollars left in the ad budget so we will see where this takes us!

November 8, 2023 Going From < 10 Google Impressions Daily to > 100 Daily

We've officially been launched for ~3 weeks now and trying to get Google's crawlers to do their job have been a bit annoying to say the least. Up until 5 days ago we weren't getting any Google traffic and Google was even not showing our HTTPS site on their search engine. So what's changing?

We started leveraging the priority url indexing feature on Google to force the crawler to pick up our URL's because its week 3 and google still hasn't finished indexing 1800 of our site pages. Now that we are finally getting our pages indexed, albeit it being manual, we are seeing impressions and clicks across 96 search queries on Google so far. This looks promising and although its manual right now we strongly believe that once Google finally catches up all the way we will have a strong SEO impact given our space and how we can rank on 1700+ interview questions and also for specific companies interview questions in Google and Bing.

November 4, 2023 Our SEO Efforts (5x conversion so far)

Google has been painfully slow trying to crawl our site so we've resorted to manually submitted URL's every day to get some impact going. Surprisingly this has worked out fairly well for us. We only have 100 out of 1900 pages indexed and we can't wait to see the results once everything is fully in Google.

For context since we started manually adding our pages into Googles crawler pipeline, we've seen 5x search traffic!

I know that feeling of not getting traction with Google! 😭 But on the flip side, once it starts working, it's like euphoria seeing that graph tick up 🤩

Sounds worthwhile! Hey I have a random question...have you ran into "Discovered - Not currently indexed" status for any pages?

I have a small website, like 16 pages right now. Trying to write good content and all, but I have two blog posts that are stuck in the status I mentioned and I just can't seem to get them out of it.

Google Search Console effectively has no resolution path for support issues. I think I just need to re-write the articles next, but taking a stab in the dark here since you posted something loosely relevant.

Anyways, good luck with continued growth!

Yes 😭 The "Discovered - Not currently indexed" is an issue we are currently running into, For example we are trying to get google to index our 1700 questions but we got that error that popped up and then when we redesigned the pages to have more text and content we resubmitted the validation and Google dropped every single page from the indexing pipeline. Super frustrating.

For now I would say just manually submit those URL's to google through the search bar on the top of the sitemap page. And google will index it.

For future context though it could be due to a number of issues

      • Low site traffic
      • Low site priority
      • Not enough content on pages

It would be nice if Google provided support
