June 1, 2020 10-User Pilot Complete

With the launch of our fully-functional app, we ran a 10-kid pilot test to evaluate how the app was working. The good news? We learned from kids and families that the app was super easy to use. The bad news? Our use case for communication drastically shifted during the pandemic, and only 1 of the 10 families really got value from us (a family with 2 divorced parents).

November 1, 2019 Launched POC

Launched our POC at 3 schools to communicate care for kids at school living with type 1 diabetes. The POC is a no-code tool that combines care logging with SMS-based texting to users. The goal was to replace paper care logs that are used at school and provide an automated way for school health personnel to communicate school therapy to parents at home.

We used Typeform to collect information and Twilio to send SMS-based texts.

March 15, 2019 50 Customer Discovery Interviews Complete

I spent the 1st couple months talking to as many school nurses as I could find. I ended up connecting with a bunch of interested school nurses through a nurse connection I had and then scheduling 1:1 interviews at schools with each of them.

Summary of our research can be found here: https://www.invincibleapp.com/blog/diabetes-in-schools

November 1, 2018 Quit full-time job after 3 months working in AM

When I first had the idea for Invincible, I knew there was something there, but I needed to prove to myself that I was committed to building something on my own...Would I have the willpower to follow-through? Would I choose other activities other than building?

After 3 straight months of waking up early to head to the coffee shop (before work, weekends, vacation, etc.), I knew this is something I wanted to spend my time on.
