InviteMe

Invite guests to Google Calendar events without emails

Visit Website
October 24, 2021 INVITEME.APP IS LIVE!

Two months in, a few rough drafts, our MVP is live.

We have 2 product funnels:

  • Desktop flow:
-- Add InviteMe.app's Chrome Extension to your browser
-- Head over to your Google Calendar and press the share button that now accompanies all of your events.
-- Share the generated link with all of your guests
-- Your guests visit the link and add themselves to your Calendar event

  • Mobile flow:
    -- Head over to InviteMe.app
-- Create events with our simple 5-field form
-- Share the generated link with all of your guests
-- Your guests visit the link and add themselves to your Calendar event

Seems like this is really looking good in terms of the desktop flow and isn't as obvious when using the mobile flow since it's harder to share existing events and also harder to acquire users (they need to remember our URL and pull it up whenever they want to create).

We have a few ideas as to how to make it better for mobile as well but figured that this is good enough for an MVP.

If you're totally happy then you've waited too long to launch, right?

August 12, 2021 We got it. Our solution.

InviteMe helps you easily share Google Calendar events

What does it do?

With InviteMe, you can easily share your events directly from your Google Calendar, or generate links to events via InviteMe.app

Want to change the details of the event? No problem! Invitees are invited directly from your event, so they would be updated immediately.

On your mobile? No problem! Generate an event directly from our landing page.

  • Do you like to organize everything for your group of friends? The producer? We're here for you
  • Office managers, say goodbye to back and forth texts.
-Service providers (hairdressers, repair-persons, etc.), want to make sure that you're never stood up\knocking on the door to an empty house? Here you go.

Let's start working.

August 11, 2021 What can we do?

Which MVPs could we choose to develop that would answer these questions?

Opt. 1 - Whatsapp bot directly link to your calendar. Whenever you want to share your events with your friends, free-form create an event by messaging our bot. The bot, in turn, returns a shareable link.

Opt. 2 - Change the game, instead of inviting via emails, you're inviting via phone numbers. How does that work? I want to invite Danny (email: danny@gmail; phone #: +15551234). The inviter sends over the invite via an app to 15551234@APPURL, which in turn, if it has Danny's email in its DB, sends an email and otherwise, sends a text to Danny, asking him to sign up to connect his email in order to receive the invite.

Opt. 3 - Combination of Chrome Ext. & landing page (LP). Inviters log in via their Google Cal account. Desktop (extension) flow - users see a share button directly in their Goog Cal. Mobile flow - users can nav to LP and create an event that would sync directly to their Cal. In both cases, a shareable URL is generated which the users can then pass on to the invitees.

August 10, 2021 Hypothesis

With the problem in mind, we wrote down what hypothesis we needed to check:

Users WANT and\or NEED to share their events with their friends\peers

  • Want - I'm the "producer" of my friend group, I want you to remember that we've set up a casual meet.
  • Need - I'm a service provider (hairdresser, massage therapist, technician, etc.), if you miss our meeting, I lose money.

A substantial number of event guests would like to receive a calendar invite. Almost a given, but still needs validation.

For some users, this is an actual pain - that's worth $$$.

Worst case scenario, I have a cool small feature I can use from now on, but ideally, we want this to be profitable and in this case, it has to hurt your pocket.

August 6, 2021 Naming; Blaming; Claiming

A famous paper named Naming Blaming Claiming, talks about how hard it is for people to get through to the point where they find a solution to a problem (or in the original context, claim recourse from the person responsible to the fault).

Took me quite a while to get to a point where I want to do something about the below pain, but when I did, I contacted my good unnamed friend and decided that we would build a solution for this annoying issue.

August 1, 2021 So annoyed; the pain:

The problem with Google Calendar (or at least a problem with Google Calendar)

You know that feeling when you've just created an event on Google Calendar and you want to send it to the other participants, and you just don't know their email?

Well, I know it. I create events for everything ("if it's not written down it didn't happen"). I also project my bad working memory onto other people so I always want to send invites. But in many cases, I don't have the email, or I'm not sure if I have the right one.

From surveying a small group of around 40 friends, it's important for around 50% to write down events, but most stop there. Some, citing that it's just way too hard to share.

About

Inviting guests to events is a burden. Asking for their emails, waiting for a response or just figuring out which email is the correct one. That's why we wanted to create something that would reduce friction to a minimum
