When I created IPinfo as a little side project back in 2013 there were no simple IP geolocation APIs available - you had to download a geolocation database, set it up on a server, and maintain it.

Started Fulltime on IPinfo

I'd been working on IPinfo as a side project until this point. I went fulltime at the end of 2016.

Added Paid Plans

The API had been 100% free and unlimited before. In Jan 2014 we added paid plans, but kept everything free for anyone making less than 1k req/day

Launched!

I registered the domain and build the first version of the website one evening while staying in a hotel in Seattle.
