September 29, 2021 A bunch of signups, new skills, 0 revenue

An update on three points.

  1. I did 0 advertising so far, I simply just put the apps onto the stores and let it do it's own thing. Despite this, there were a bunch of signups, which is good news -- and those users seem to be proactive in health and fitness.

  2. Even though I had a bunch of signups, not 1 cent was earned so far. It is something I'll have to work on

  3. This is the big point. Recall in the history below, I had 0 coding / software engineering experience before this. Going in the other direction from IndieHacking, I put together a great resume and applied to lots of software engineering jobs (at FAANG and more, to smaller shops). I get A TON of interest. I built a whole new careers, and regardless of Ironroom's future direction, opening up a whole new direction of my career is a milestone itself

July 27, 2021 Long Journey to Launch

When I started two years ago, I thought it would take about 30 days to build and launch something (from 0 coding experience). I was wrong. If I wanted something good with modern technology and functions, it would take a bit more effort. I just launched Ironroom on Android, IOS and Web after 2 years of working on it.

Stepping away from the actual product, I had to learn backend development, front end development, web development, setting up servers, security, API's, websockets, javascript, python, inapp purchases, systems to sync cross platform, social authentication and and the 1000s of things you have to do in the Apple and Google stores to launch app, and of course, lots of time testing. This was a massive learning experience on the tech side.

I had this idea that if I'm going to build something, rather build it good. So here we are. Ironroom is truly a great app. Now it is time to get users

June 1, 2019 Came up with an idea

There are a few things that I want to do. First, I have 0 experience coding. From work, I know how to be a business analyst and do SQL queries and I know conceptually how full-stack works, but I never wrote code.

This project will be my learn to code project. I'll simply be building a fitness tracking app for me to log my gym workouts, and I'll open it to others (I know i know, there are 100s of these out there, and I'm going to add my own into the pool)

About

This was my learn to code project. I knew 0 about software development before I started and I wanted to build something that was useful for me. While I was building it, I decided maybe other people would find it useful.
