Journalistic
A simple, yet powerful micro journaling app
About 18 month after launch of the first test version Journalistic crossed 5,000 signups, with weekly registrations floating around 100. This is a significant milestone and already half way to 10k.

Next steps:
- Launch PRO version
Thanks to Google's support for Trusted Web Activities in the PlayStore it only took about a weekend and several rounds of revisions to package the PWA and get it listed in the PlayStore. From feedback it was quite clear that most people are not familiar with PWAs yet and that they prefer the convenience of downloading an app from the AppStore/PlayStore.

A hunter submitted an early beta version of the app to Product Hunt on New Year's day where it reached #4 for the day and generated more than 1,000 signups over a few days.
This was completely unexpected and blew out the SendGrid daily email limit. Some great feedback and praise came in which is obviously always gold in the ears of makers.

Fixed bugs, added a signup flow and legal docs (ToS and Privacy Policy). This process is always way more time consuming and painful than expected. But eventually it is important to get the product out into the wild as soon as possible and acquire valuable feedback.

Just some late-night coding together with some tech that I already knew (Django) and some new tech that I wanted to try (Vue+Nuxt). From previous projects I knew it is essential to not over-engineer it and first focus on the essentials. Therefore, I went with a minimalistic design approach which also turned out to be beneficial for UX.

Other journaling apps out there are cluttered and not simplistic enough. I want to build something that looks fresh and is fun to use.
