October 18, 2021 Why just reduce churn when we can help growth

Overdue originally started out as a dunning (failed payment recovery) app. We're still that. But, we realized that we could keep the simplicity we've strived to achieve and added a few products that we think are important to growing your business. In addition to failed payment recovery we recently added cancellation recovery (basically a discount incentive for your users to keep a user from cancelling their subscription) and NPS. With the addition of these features we realized that a key feature was overlooked. We hadn't offered users the ability to add additional users to their accounts to help with things like NPS and cancellation feedback. Something that's not the easiest to implement after the fact. We're excited to be launching that soon.

August 6, 2021 Cancellation Analytics/Recovery in-app

Earlier this year we added Cancellation analytics that were email based. When a user cancelled their subscription Stripe would send us a subscription.updated webhook and we'd send that user an email. The problem is, those kinds of emails have a tendency of get ignored by a fairly large percentage of people. It was evident that feature needed to go in the widget. Now you can wire up your cancel subscription button to gather a users cancellation reason and add a custom incentive (discount) to keep a user around.

July 15, 2021 Net Promoter Score (NPS)

We already had a widget for in-app failed payment notifications. An awesome user made a great suggestion about adding Net Promoter Scores. It makes a lot of sense and helps Overdue continue its journey towards becoming a growth platform (as opposed to just a failed payment recovery app).

March 4, 2021 Re-branding complete

I'm a couple weeks late on this post. Long story short, not everybody knows what dunning means so the name Just Dunning wasn't really the best (I think). I've wanted to change the name for a while and a new name presented itself which I really like literally fell in my lap. Just Dunning has become Overdue.io. We didn't just update the domain name and the logo but did a lot more to the backend that helps us scale much which is super exciting. Using Digital Oceans managed load balancer and databases which is great.

That's about it!

November 3, 2020 Launched embeddable widgets

One of our most requested features, embeddable widgets, has been launched. It was a lot of fun and easier than I originally expected which seems to be the case with programming in general. For now it enables companies to add failed payment alerts in their app where the user can easily update their card on file. Updating the card through the form triggers payment of the previously failed invoice. Adding cancellation analytic/recovery is planned next.

September 21, 2020 The COVID recovery

Right before things started shutting down we had seen a nice growth in MRR. If you take a look at our revenue it took a bit of a dip but it's back to above $300 MRR which is nice to see. I'm looking forward to Just Dunning continuing to grow and be a great benefit to its users. I hope everybody continues to recover. If I can help anybody in any way shoot me an email.

July 1, 2020 I want to recover more than failed payments

It's been enjoyable improving the product and seeing an increase in the number of failed payments recovered. Mondays are a treat when I get to see the weekly update mailers go out announcing what was recovered the previous 7 days. Just recovering failed payments although the business is called Just Dunning wasn't enough. That's why we launched Cancellation Recovery. I wanted to help recover subscriptions that had been cancelled. For no additional charge we now through email attempt to obtain the reason your user had cancelled their subscription. In addition to that they're offered a discount for x number of months to stay with you. If they chose to "Stay and save" we take care of that automatically. Eventually I'd like to implement embeddable forms that users can customize. Back to work!

June 2020 Adjusted pricing

I had been thinking about pricing, I wanted something simple that scaled with my users businesses and was simple. I decided to base the pricing off their MRR. This wasn't something I could do right away as I needed to make sure my MRR calculation was correct and fair. I wanted to make sure discounts were taken into account and any refunds that effected that months MRR were as well. Change of plans also spawned additional metrics on the dashboard. I'm not necessarily looking to replace any metrics products out there. I am interested in providing valuable information for my users while they're on the site though.

May 2020 COVID and looking for better ways to serve my user

I don't think anybody at the beginning of 2020 thought the year would pan out like it did. Businesses shutting down left and right, struggling to make ends meet. I decided to use this extra time indoors to figure out how else I an better serve my users. Additional features perhaps? I don't want to add any additional financial strain on them so it'll have to be something that's included in their regular subscription.

April 2020 $300 MRR

The last month we've seen a nice increase in the number of users. Introduced some new plans to support larger businesses and things are looking up. The previous single plan pricing didn't make sense and so I implemented a plan that was based on the number of active subscriptions a user had. In my gut I think I need to have an MRR based plan.

About

Wanted to build a product that focused on failed payment recovery. Something simple any Stripe customer could use to help reduce their churn.
