Kaneskii
What if internet points mattered? 1 vote = $1
Someone (probably from Product Hunt) liked Kaneskii enough to purchase 10 points to use for votes.

I shared Kaneskii on Product Hunt.
While I didn't get feedback on the post itself, several people checked out the website and shared feedback on Kaneskii. It was exciting to see people interact with my site!
Between the Show HN and this post, I've tweaked the messaging quite a bit.

I shared Kaneskii on Hacker News.
While I had a sizeable traffic bump, not many people interacted with the site. I received one comment that made me think about how to structure user incentives in the product.

This is when I started in earnest. I chose a familiar tech stack and got to work.
Stack:
- Vue.js
- Firebase
- Third-party APIs

I was originally working on a B2B product in an unrelated space. While I got to meet some great people, I wasn't able to close key deals.
Ultimately, I decided to shut it down and focus on Kaneskii.

I started paying attention to and participating in conversations about online discourse and the problems people are experiencing with current platforms.
I also found several projects working to address these problems in different ways. This helped me refine, inform, and differentiate my own solution.

Over the years, I've had various ideas for what ultimately resulted in Kaneskii, but a movie studio's blatant ad campaign in several Reddit threads and comments is what motivated me to actually start the project.

I think we need to reward people for contributing to the global conversation and we need to do it without pushing ourselves to trade authenticity for engagement.
