Signups were contrary to my expectations. I had assumed (hoped?) that it would be more of a slow, linear growth, day by day, but instead almost all of my signups occurred on the same day, with almost none happening in the days that followed.

I'm looking for ways to show it off to other platforms to increase signups, but I am very new to marketing and unsure of how to ethically advertise. I'm also looking for ways to improve retention, but I think network effects may be very important in the domain that I'm chosen, so I'm also not sure how to handle that.

I was looking for a project to learn Rust and improve my web dev skills, and I've always wanted a service that would let you find individuals that were similar to you locally and broadcast messages to them.

Eventually I came up with the idea of swiping on concepts in order to determine similarity, and from there I spent several months coding away to make it a reality. I "launched" on January 21st to reddit, posting in several subreddits.

I was very nervous posting it, and had delayed for many weeks, but was overwhelmed with how positive the comments were, and how much feedback I received. Since then I've been working on incorporating their feedback and improving the product.
