KDP Print Cover Generator
Convert eBook covers to print-ready KDP paperback & hardcove
Hey indie hackers! I just launched KDP Print Cover Generator — a free web tool for self-published authors who use Amazon KDP.
The problem: When you publish a Kindle eBook, you have a front cover. But when you want to publish a paperback or hardcover edition, Amazon requires a full wrap-around cover PDF — front cover, spine, and back cover with exact dimensions based on your trim size, page count, and paper type. Amazon's own Cover Calculator gives you the dimensions, but not the actual file. So you're left figuring it out yourself in Photoshop or paying a designer.
What I built: You upload your existing eBook front cover image, enter your book specs (trim size, page count, paper type, binding), and the tool instantly generates a properly formatted, print-ready PDF with the correct spine width, bleed margins, and safe zones — all calculated using KDP's official formulas.
How it works under the hood:
- Calculation engine uses KDP's exact spine width formulas (e.g., 0.002252" per page for B&W on white paper) with full decimal precision
- Supports all 16 paperback trim sizes + 5 hardcover sizes
- PDF generation at 300 DPI using PDFKit with pixel-perfect layout
- Image processing with Sharp for resizing and embedding
- React frontend + Node.js/Express backend
It's completely free, no sign-up required. Just upload and download.

I'd love to hear your feedback — especially if you've self-published on KDP before. What would make this more useful for you?
