Khumbu
Master German in real context
Collect words into study sheets, save them into decks, and master them through smart practice or free browsing.
1. Create (Word Pack)
Turn your materials into vocabulary sheets and saved decks using three modes:
List: Paste raw words or sentences. Khumbu converts them into dictionary headwords with translations, examples, and context.
Topic: Describe a theme (e.g., "Apartment viewing" or "Hiking"), and Khumbu generates a targeted list of useful words.
Photos: Snap a photo of a book page with underlined or highlighted text. The AI extracts your marked words and ignores the rest.
All lists can be printed or saved as PDF under Word Pack → Saved.
2. Study (My Flashcards)
Review your decks using three distinct modes:
Repeat: Your primary study mode using Spaced Repetition (SM-2). Grade cards (Again, Good, Easy) to set when they return.
Memorize: Casual, pressure-free practice. Filter cards (New, Hard, Weekly), randomize order, or reverse sides. Does not affect your review schedule.
Contrast: View a 2×2 grid of related words (shared roots and prefixes) to spot patterns and nuance.
3. Smart Pacing
Spaced Repetition: Words you struggle with appear sooner; easy words wait longer.
Daily Limits: New words are capped daily (default: 10) to prevent review overwhelm.
Honest Logs: Only your first review grade of the day updates the schedule. Extra reviews on the same day are logged purely as extra practice.
4. Manage & Track
Deck Management: Edit word lists, search across all decks with Find Word, or remove mastered cards.
Stats: Track practice streaks, daily volume, and identify your hardest words.
About
I built Khumbu out of pure frustration with my own study process. I was sick of translating German words one by one, manually building dictionaries, and laboriously copying unknown vocabulary out of physical books.
