Kids and Remote work

Tips for parents to juggle work while kids are at home

September 2021 Launched the website

At the end of September, I launched the website. I'm not great at design or coming up with great domain names. So that took longer than I wanted. I spent most of my time looking for tips for parents. I used a free logo creator. The hardest part was to decide what filters to use. I first went way too complicated and then narrowed it down to, what I would consider, the most important categories.

If you have a tip, please add it.

I should work on the pictures. The site takes too long to load. If there is enough traffic, I'm adding a 'sponsored tip' option.

September 1, 2020 Came up with the idea

I had several ideas about what to do during the Makerpad nocode challenge. I wanted to do something quick and useful. I first thought about doing a 'remote work social listening engine', but scrapped that as I couldn't find the right nocode tool. That project will come to fruition later this year using Python or Rshiny.

As the lockdown just ended in Ireland and I enjoyed working from home without having to teach my children or help them with something else I had time to reflect on what I would have loved to have back in April: A list of tips on what to do with the children. Ideally, something that has no text, just the tip. As a parent, I don't have time for the story. That's when I decided to create a simple website with a list of tools. As I also wanted to try out using airtable as the data base for a site, it was the right project at the right time.

About

This project is self-serving. There are a ton of tips on helping parents work from home with their kids. But when you need a solution, you just want the tip, not the story. I cut out the noise.
