November 30, 2025 A Parent’s Story

KidSense was born out of the kind of exhaustion you can’t really explain to anyone unless they’ve lived it. I was raising a bright, big-hearted child who also struggled with ADHD and anxiety, and most days felt like I was walking through a minefield with no map. One moment things were calm, the next we were in full meltdown territory and I was trying to stay patient while completely overwhelmed myself.

I remember the constant guesswork. Was this behaviour anxiety? Sensory overload? Frustration? Was I helping or making it worse? Every day felt like starting again from scratch. And even with all the love in the world, it was isolating. You don’t want to complain. You don’t want to seem like you’re not coping. But some days you’re hanging on by a thread.

I kept searching for something practical. Something that didn’t just tell me why things were happening but guided me through what to actually do in the moment. Something that helped me understand the patterns behind the chaos rather than just reacting to it. I didn’t want another book. I didn’t want generic advice. I needed support that was there when things were tough, not hours later when the moment had passed.

That’s why I built KidSense.

KidSense is the tool I desperately wished existed. A calm co-pilot that helps break down behaviours, supports communication, builds routines that stick, and gives parents real-time help when everything is going sideways. And just as importantly, it supports the parent too, because you can’t pour from an empty cup, and nobody tells you that enough.

The more I built, the clearer it became that parents like us deserve this kind of support. Parents of neurodiverse kids, kids with behavioural challenges, kids with complex emotions – we all need a break, a bit of clarity, and something that makes the day go smoother.

KidSense isn’t just an app. It’s a lifeline I wish someone had handed me years ago. If it can make another family feel a little less alone and a little more confident, then every part of this journey has been worth it.

About

KidSense wasn’t built as a tech project. It came from being a parent who felt completely out of their depth more often than not. Parenting a child with behavioural challenges or neurodiversity can be difficult.
