300+ free AI-powered browser tools — no signup, full privacy
I just wrote about how I went from maintaining open source libraries to building Kitmul; 304 free AI-powered browser tools using Rust, WebAssembly, and client-side AI models.
The article covers the architecture, the tech stack (Next.js, Bun, ffmpeg.wasm, ONNX, TensorFlow.js), and the journey from open source contributor to product builder.

Would love to hear your thoughts!
Every time I needed to convert a PDF, remove a background, or compress a video, I had to upload my files to some random website. That always bothered me — where do those files go? Who has access to them?
So I started building Kitmul as a side project. The idea was simple: bring the tools to the browser instead of sending files to a server.
Today Kitmul has 294 tools across 19 categories, PDF, image, video, text, QR codes, developer utilities, and more. All tools run directly in the browser. Some use WebAssembly and client-side AI models for advanced tasks like background removal and image enhancement, while most simply process everything client-side with no server uploads. Your files never leave your device
Some highlights:
- Built with Next.js, Bun, and ffmpeg.wasm
- AI-powered features like background removal and image enhancement
- Available in 4 languages (EN, ES, FR, DE)
- Completely free, no signup, no limits
Just launched on Product Hunt last week and now listing on directories to get the word out.

I was tired of uploading personal files to random websites just to convert a PDF or remove a background. Every "free" tool either required signup, had hidden limits, or sent your files to their servers. So I built Kitmul
