An API to calculate the carbon footprint of any journey
While building the MVP I also wanted to document the whole process so people could see the challenges I faced and generally what goes into building something like this.
It was the first time I'd done anything like this and while I won't win the academy award for video editing my first build video was now live on YouTube!
It took me slightly longer than the 30 day deadline I'd originally given myself but that was down to catching COVID and also taking a bit of time off over the Christmas period.
However, 42 days after starting I finished my MVP and posted Klimaat to Product Hunt
Climate change is an important issue for a lot of people right now so I was thinking how can I use my skills to contribute in overcoming this challenge we're all facing.
I came up with the idea of creating a tool, mainly aimed at businesses where they can calculate the carbon footprint of running their company.
I wanted to get a working MVP is 30 days or less so decided to keep it simple first and just focus on the emissions created from employees travelling into the office.
