Knowsi
Consent Management for User Research
I introduced a Free Tier for accounts today! You can use Knowsi's digital consent forms and participant privacy dashboard for student work, small or personal projects, or simply to experiment with improving your research admin. If you need more, it’s easy to upgrade.

I'm continuing to experiment with the business model as an independent and bootstrapped product, and we can promise that whatever pricing model you join at, you get to keep. Let me know what you think of the new free tier! andrew@knowsi.com
Was incredibly stoked to launch a redesign of Knowsi.com. It's not quite complete yet, but was feature complete and relatively cohesive. I launched it to correspond with a small ad buy I had, which served as a great motivator for getting it out the door. We saw some new signups/tests as a result, but haven't had the opportunity to launch the new subscription model yet (which I think will help things)

The past bit has been difficult to focus on Knowsi. It turns out that working from home with a newborn is a challenge, and since the runway was getting a bit shorter I've started consulting a bit to cover things (though it's the kind of work I love, so that's alright).
Knowsi is continuing to do alright, with semi regular bug fixes and additions. Thankfully people are using the platform, so bugs are being found and addressed, but we're still a while from prime time.
I've gotten offers for pitching and meetups through various channels, but the big thing I'm finding is that time related to consulting commitments as well means that I can't jump on those opportunities. In this case, I don't think they were the right things, but all told, the side hustle piece is proving to be a good lesson in opportunity cost.

Well, that wasn't the fun. I got my second customer yesterday and lost them today.
What happened:
- The customer had joined my prelaunch email list some time ago.
- I sent out my first newsletter announcing the public beta and sharing an extended trial code, along with a few blog posts about user research and Knowsi.
- The customer signed up.
- The customer explored the site a bit.
- The customer signed up right as I was finishing the onboarding email config, so didn't get an immediate onboarding email.
- I finished up the onboarding email and then sent it to the customer manually via the API.
- Next day, the customer goes through and cancels the account.
- I send a follow up email asking for feedback.
Spent a chunk of today setting up a CRM setup in trello as well, with the theory that I should be doing more direct outreach.
If the customer responds to the feedback request, what are some of the things I should ask them? Any thoughts on when and if I should reach out again to see if Knowsi meets their needs?

Launched the newsletter today to the pre-launch mailing list (about 50 ppl)! I'm using Sendy, a self-hosted mail marketing platform which is pretty brilliant. Had a big scare though with some hot-fixing of the database. Give it a look, would love the feedback (and there's a promo code in there too).

My first customer converted from the trial into payment. Knowsi quiet-launched three weeks ago, though the system itself is still very early. However, while doing interviews with potential customers, I've had a few reach out with a desire to use the system. One of them shifted over today! It's a small amount, but definitely a morale boost.

Small delay in the product to introduce another creation. Emil Joseph Lovett was born today, so will be pushing back the MVP soft launch a bit,.

First group of beta testers: 30 students and teachers from the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design. They'll be using it over the next year to run all consents for their interaction design masters program.

With a decade of experience doing design research, Knowsi came from my frustration seeing the admin side done poorly, especially with consent. Knowsi aims to make the admin side easy, with a focus on privacy and consent.
