Koala Travel App
Find the best accommodation spot for families with children.
Yep. So, today I was checking stats and got finally 400 users. That makes 100 days to grab 100 users, pretty much what daily stats usually show. Who said grabbing users was going to be easy? I obviously knew that people wouldn't go to the app store to search "apps for traveling with children" and I always have approached this project as "this is my app for my travels if it can be useful to others then great", but I won't lie, it is still kind of disappointing to see slow growth. On the other hand, for my own self 20 years ago, 400 users would have been amazing! So 🍻
Got to the 500 followers mark. This month has been faster (13 days vs the previous marks that used to take 16 days). I presume the change in the phrase I do use for auto-follower search to "family trip" must have helped.
These followers cause some referal traffic, but not much. I'll post next update when getting to the 1K mark. At that time I hope to have done some cleanup too.
Happy New Year indie hackers!
For me, it is a very special new year welcome as it is also the day where I have released the web version for my family holidays booking app: https://koalatravel.app
It does not fully match the app functionality yet but there should be more than enough there to have a reasonable user experience for finding a great sport for your family holidays. The challenge for this 2020 will be curating the existing content much more and also growing it with special collections. I wonder if I will have the time for this. It is a good new year's resolution nevertheless.

This month I've been quite negligent with social growth. I'll take that. A few times my scripts got accidentally stopped and didn't notice due to different holiday breaks and hence follower growth has been considerably slower. Reached 400 followers today which is 34 days after the 300 mark. I'm simply tagging this event here as I expect 500 to be reached much faster. We will see.

Today reached the 300 followers mark. Haven't changed the approach. Automated following via integromat and slightly tuning follower-targeting. That makes exactly 16 days as predicted a couple of days ago. No improvements in that regard. Let's see how fast I can get to 400.

Replying to everyone here. I used integromat to create a scenario for targetting people that might be interested in our twitter content and then follow those accounts. 1/8 of the people followed will follow us back. Then gradually people also start liking and retweeting.
16 days from 100 -> 200, 16 days from 200 -> 300
Will keep updating with new milestones but so far it is being slow.

Slowly growing. Now 300 total users in our mobile app. Dropping this here as another log timestamp that will serve to track publicly our progress. Hopefully, it serves other people that goes in the same direction as well. No organic growth from the app store, most of my downloads come from the activity just kicked off on social networks.

Just a simple tracking log here. Got to 200 twitter followers now. That is like 16 days, so very very slow. I have tuned my follower search a little bit so the good news is that the followers the profile is getting are actually real people in their majority which is really good.

I am promoting on twitter. Every day I send a new twit with an awesome spot for going with kids. Koala Travel App got now to 100 followers!
Most of these followers come from automated social growth via Integromat scripts. I do track some relevant hashtags for my app and then follow a few people every day. Some of those will follow back. With time I'm seeing increase in organic likes from these followers which is good.
Let's see how much it takes getting to 200.

This week I passed the 250 installations mark. It's been a slow road. So far most installations come via people clicking on the links from my personal profiles and ads from another website I do run. It's all direct traffic.
Need to start working on grabbinb more organic traffic!

I always struggle to find a sweet place for my family of 4. I did literally spend weeks every year researching. Too many reviews, too many pictures. Too much noise. So I ended up creating this app.
