Kreya

We just released version 1.8 of Kreya! Among other things, we added paid subscriptions (while keeping a generous free forever plan) and support for REST. Kreya is now truly an alternative to Postman and Insomnia. We tried to keep the UI as clean as possible while still supporting a lot of features. Otherwise, Kreya would become bloated simliar to Postman.

Quite hyped to see Kreya grow. It currently has around 2500 monthly active users. Curios to see whether any of them convert to a paid plan and if the addition of the REST support nets us a lot of new users.

Kreya continues to grow organically, albeit slowly. It was installed over 3600 times. Over 500 users open Kreya weekly and we have over 1200 monthly active users.

We recognized that a lot of users installed Kreya and then never really used it. To combat that, we added an example project and an initial project wizard, so that Kreya is easier to grok for new users.

Currently, we are working on the next release, on new blog posts and on our upcoming PH launch.

Kreya has been downloaded over 1200 times and has around 300 active weekly users. We implemented telemetry in April 2021, so we track the amount of installed versions, among other things. Note that we do not, and will never, collect personal information.

Kreya now has almost 500 downloads since we launched our Public Beta at the start of this year.

We got a lot of downloads from our target audience. For example, we listed Kreya on https://github.com/grpc-ecosystem/awesome-grpc and posted on /r/grpc as well as /r/programming. This resulted in a lot of views and downloads. In addition, we currently get ~10 downloads per day organically, most likely from word-of-mouth.

A bit disappointing was our "Show HN" on Hacker News, which didn't make it to the frontpage and thus resulted in only very few views.

We continue to improve Kreya and want to make it into the leading gRPC GUI client tool!

It took us a lot of time to build Kreya. It is a gRPC GUI client.

We started in early 2020 with brainstorming, since existing gRPC client didn't satisfy our needs. We often build and consume gRPC services, but with existing tools, these APIs were difficult to call and test.

March 2020, we started building Kreya. There were a couple of setbacks and development pauses, but today, we are finally ready to launch our Public Beta!
