Introducing Lasso Tool - Figma plugin comes from Photoshop

Why the Lasso Tool?
The idea for this plugin came from my wife, a web designer. She often needs to make free-form selections from images, and while Photoshop has a popular tool for this — Lasso Tool — Figma doesn't offer a similar plugin. I saw the potential in bringing this functionality to Figma to meet this need.

How I Built the MVP
Geometry isn’t my strong suit, 😛 so ChatGPT became my go-to helper for tasks like calculating distances between points and managing transformations. The toughest part? Gradients! Figma’s API handles them differently than other platforms. Understanding transformation matrices was also a challenge, but thanks to some excellent open-source plugins and the work of talented developers, I made it through.

What’s Next?
Currently, I’m focusing on promotion. Manual tools may not be as popular in the AI-driven landscape, but some dedicated users have purchased it, which reassures me of its value.

Try It Out
You can find the Lasso Tool on the Figma Community plugin page, or visit the official website. Test it out with 5 free uses, or purchase it for just $5.

I’m excited (and a bit nervous!) to share something I’ve built from scratch. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
