February 12, 2020 First Paying Customer!

Wasn't expecting this so early, but we got a paying customer on Day 1 of our launch. Layers was launched on both our own site, as well as several design-focused marketplaces.

We got a hit on one of the marketplaces within 7 hours of launching on there. It's a relatively small sale, but every little bit counts. It's incredibly motivating.

February 10, 2020 Launched our v1!

We've been working on Layers, our design system, for just under 6 months now. As industry veterans, we've seen our fair share of UI Kits, Interface Bundles, or wireframe kits that all have something snazzy, bold, or uniquely exotic to offer.

That's not what we wanted to achieve. Layers was built to first and foremost be accessible. Being usable and useful, to everyone, has been our primary goal. This means we've thoroughly researched our color palettes, our typography sizes and line heights, the contrast ratios in components, etc.

Over the years, we've found that this is something that designers (and the companies they work with) often neglect in building their product. They'll often choose to ignore accessibility issues for the purpose of adding a bit of "jazz". Whether it's fanciful animations of multiple moving parts at once, or light gray text on a slightly less gray background. It means that users who's sight isn't 20/20, or those who suffer from color blindness, or spatial cognition issues, are often left in the dark.

That's why we set out to build a design system, accessibility first. And we're very excited to have launched our first version!
