Facilitating spontaneous gatherings - iOS App Release

I love social hubs, you know that one friend's house where there's always something going on? I've enjoyed being that friend who hosts, & attending other gatherings.

I've sought to combine my love for community & my love for technology into a service that helps make this kind of event more seamless.

I've spent my evenings and weekends moonlighting Lazztech Hub, a location-based social network. I've just released it on the Apple App store and am working on an Android release in the near future.

Curious on how you plan to solve the "chicken and egg" problem?

By "chicken and egg" problem I assume you mean how do I get the initial users?

I don't really have a solid plan. I'm figuring this all out as I go. My intention though is to invest in the early adopters that create hubs and in turn invite other users to their hubs. I expect users who host communities will always be the minority but those are the ones that will make this a great service for others.

Oh nice! This is such a great idea. I actually read an article in Psychology Today recently, that explained how loneliness is on the rise across the world: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mind-brain-and-value/202112/why-loneliness-is-the-rise

Your app definitely helps mitigate this issue - very cool problem to be solving.

Just read through that article, thank you for sharing it. And yes you hit the nail on the head! The goal of this service is very much to combat loneliness and provide hosts with tools to foster a stronger sense of community.

I lived in a "hippie commune" type environment, for some time, on Vashon island and it was such a lovely experience. There were always people flowing through and I never had to worry about making plans with people because the space was a social destination. Since my time living there, I've been trying to re-attain that sense of community in many ways, with varying degrees of success.

I hope that this tool will help my community and me, along with others have that same kind of experience. So many tools these days seem to focus on digital means of communication. Covid showed me the limitations of only communicating online. As numbers are low and more people are working from home, I'm hoping that people will appreciate a service that helps them foster this sense of being a "social destination", for their own pod of people.
