March 9, 2023 The shift in sales: people deserve our privacy, companies don’t

As sales professionals, we know how important it is to collect and use data to understand our customers, personalize our offers, and optimize our campaigns. Data is the fuel that drives our sales engine.

But we also know that data comes with a responsibility. A responsibility to respect the privacy and preferences of our customers. A responsibility to protect their personal information from unauthorized access or misuse. A responsibility to comply with the laws and regulations that govern data collection and processing.

In recent years, we have seen a shift in the balance of power between consumers and companies when it comes to data privacy. Consumers are becoming more aware of their rights and more demanding of their choices. They are opting out of tracking cookies, installing ad blockers, deleting apps, and switching brands if they feel their privacy is violated.

At the same time, a lot of company information is public. You just need a way to access it.

This shift in sales requires us to rethink our approach to data-driven marketing. We can no longer rely on third-party data sources that may be inaccurate, outdated, or illegal. We can no longer assume that our customers are willing to share their data without knowing how it will be used or who will have access to it. We can no longer ignore the ethical implications of our data decisions.

We need to embrace a new paradigm of data-driven marketing that puts customer privacy at the center. We need to collect only the data that we need for legitimate business purposes and with explicit consent from our customers. We need to use the data in ways that benefit our customers and respect their preferences. We need to secure the data from unauthorized access or disclosure. We need to be transparent about our data practices and policies.

By doing so, we can not only avoid legal troubles and reputational damages but also boost our sales performance. We can build trust and loyalty with our customers who appreciate our respect for their privacy. We can improve our operational efficiency by eliminating unnecessary or redundant data. We can optimize our data quality by relying on first-party sources that are more accurate and relevant.

One of the tools that can help us achieve this new paradigm is LeadGraph, a
powerful sales intelligence platform that uses Diffbot’s knowledge graph to identify key personalization factors for your prospects. With LeadGraph, you can find out:

Whether a company is hiring a ton of SDRs – that’s a buying signal that they are investing in their sales team.

Whether a company is using a complementary technology – that’s a buying signal that they have a specific pain point or goal.

Whether a company is hiring to support that technology – that’s a buying signal that they have budget and urgency.

Whether a prospect has specific skills or expertise – that’s a personalization factor that you can use to tailor your message.

With this data, you can only reach out to the most relevant contacts at the most relevant companies at the most relevant times. This means you’ll be less intrusive and more respectful of your prospects’ privacy. Spray and pray is over. With LeadGraph, you can be a sniper.

The shift in sales is inevitable. People deserve our privacy, companies don’t. The question is: how will we adapt?🤔

March 2, 2023 Ever wanted to identify target accounts based on what skills your contacts have?

got a new territory a few days ago, and I needed a way to identify my top accounts. I sell a very technical product with very specific complementary technologies -- let's call them market signals.

I searched through all 80,000 contacts in my 1900 company territory and looked for these market signals. This way, I got it down to just 285 contacts and a much more manageable # of companies.

Now, I can search through contacts + companies at the same time. My account research is much easier.

See this ~2 minute video where I breakdown my workflow.

Any feedback? Anything you think I should be doing differently?

Leadgraph, which scrapes the entire web and collects attributes about people, companies, technologies, skills, recognizes similarities to the ICP. It uses closed/won data from Salesforce.

With Leadgraph, I can upload a list of accounts and it will rank them according to similarity with the ICP.
