LearnAwesome
Humanity's universal learning map.
Crawled the web to collect courses and MOOCs on all kind of topics and imported all of those in LearnAwesome's repository. All in all, 1755 topics, 903 institutions, 37 MOOC platforms and 9500 courses! Check your favorite topics here: https://learnawesome.org/topics
Try browsing around. I'd really appreciate some feedback ππ

Our first attempt was to curate learning resources across various topics in a GitHub repository of markdown files. While that got decent amount of interest, we realized that we needed to build an app to be able to search, add reviews, create learning plans, and follow people etc.
I took a couple of weeks to build the MVP and posted on ProductHunt. I did not do any marketing beyond sharing the link with our existing user community.
Next morning, I was pleasantly surprised to find that ProductHunt had featured LearnAwesome on their homepage.

Wow! Where did the list of categories come from (tags I assume?). There's so much in here I've never even heard of... Rhinosinusitis????
I kind of like it all laid out in a big table but it is a bit overwhelming.
When I clicked into the links it wasn't super obvious how to go to the course either.
The other thing is that it's a bit strange when you click into a category and only find 1 course there... just sayin.
@schlendeus Thank you so much for having a detailed look!
I did all the tagging manually because I wanted the tags to be really high-quality. Took me quite a few days.
Organizing topics is a hard problem. Starting with Dewey Decimal system to Faceted classification system - every solution is less than perfect. I'll make a decision and implement it soon.
About some topics not having enough content, this should get better as users start contributing more links across categories. I need to build more social features so users can start learning with their friends.
This is interesting. I would make the landing page a little less intimidating. Start out with a search box and make sure the cursor is in it when I land on the page so people can start typing right away. Ideally, showing a section somewhere above/below the search box that automatically shows various search queries they can type would be useful instead of the entire list as you currently do. Something like what this control does in React (https://jstejada.github.io/react-typist/).
Also, I'm confused with the results you're showing me. I was expecting a video to show up or a clear link to that site.
@theoutlander Thanks for passing by!
Yes, the UX is not optimal. I was occupied with manually tagging these 9500 courses. Now that I'm done, I'll fix the UX immediately.
