LearnBuilder
Build e-learning that learners actually remember.
I like the current feature set of LearnBuilder, but it was always hard to demonstrate, how courses look like. Having a guest mode always was on my mind, but finally today I implemented it. No I need to build some nice courses I can make available for demonstration.
Hi IH 👋 I'm Peter. I've been an instructional designer and eLearning developer for over 15 years — working with justice sector institutions, anti-corruption bodies, and international NGOs to train prosecutors, judges, and investigators.
Over that time I've used various authoring tools. The market is basically split in two. Template-based tools give you a drag-and-drop experience and a library of pre-built slides - fast to start, but you're always fighting the template when you want to do something meaningful. The powerful tools are expensive, slow to build with, and take months to learn properly. Neither camp was built around how people actually learn.
I've been deeply influenced by Michael Allen's CCAF model (Context, Challenge, Activity, Feedback) - the idea that learning only sticks when it's grounded in realistic situations and meaningful decisions. Almost no tool supports this out of the box.
So I'm building LearnBuilder - an AI-powered eLearning authoring platform and learning management system designed around sound instructional design principles from the ground up. Not just AI that writes content for you, but AI that helps you design better learning experiences.
Where I am right now: early development, building the core authoring experience, and gathering feedback from real instructional designers. I've built a demo course ("Building engaging and meaningful e-Learning") to showcase the AI dialogue and scenario features.
I'm doing this alongside my day job - which means I know my user intimately. I am my user.
I'll be posting updates here as I build. The good, the slow, and the "why did I think this would be easy."

I'm an instructional designer with 15+ years of experience, LearnBuilder was built out of frustration with tools that optimise for clicks and completion rates while ignoring what happens in learners' heads.
