May 1, 2023 The website received a facelift πŸ’…πŸΌ

Today was a productive day. πŸ˜…

Apart from releasing an alpha version for testing, I gave the main website a facelift by moving it off of a manual workflow to using a site builder.

In the beginning, the site was using the Zola static site generator with the site source code hand coded using HTML and Bulma CSS. If this sounds time consuming, it definitely is! But I'm comfortable with this stack which is why I started off with it.

Already over a few days though, I noticed that this is overkill for what the website needs and is actually costing me valuable time which I could spend on other more high-impact things.

So after spending a few hours trying to find a website builder which strikes the right balance between functionality, customizability, and price, I selected Popsy.

I registered for a trial, liked what I saw, and quickly move the entire site to Popsy within the afternoon!

The website looks better, and it's so much easier to work with now as compared to hand-writing HTML!

May 1, 2023 v0.1.0 published 🚒

I just published v0.1.0 of the app on https://lemonledger.com. πŸŽ‰

This is a very early version (the first one actually πŸ˜…) of the app, and as such, contains a very minimal set of features. You can configure your account using the Lemon Squeezy API key, monitor all your stores, and view all your orders. And that's about it!

The idea is to gather early user feedback and adjust the features accordingly.

April 21, 2023 Hello, World!

Lemon Ledger is a macOS menu bar app to keep an eye on your Lemon Squeezy store orders in (almost!) real-time.

I recently started using Lemon Squeezy to sell digital products and really like the platform! Their UI is clean and intuitive and generally things feel very polished.

One thing I've been missing though is a desktop app which would show me an overview of all my stores and orders and notify me whenever there's a new sale. So this is what I've been building over the past couple of evenings and weekends!

The app is built using Tauri which lets me quickly build a functioning desktop app using Rust and TypeScript. The Lemon Squeezy API and their API docs are awesome as well, which made interacting with their API very easy. Overall, building this app has been a fun experience!

The first version of the website is available at https://lemonledger.com and I'm planning to make the app available for download rather soon!

Great job! I made a xbar script for the same purpose, but I found that the total_revenue in stores API was not the real-time value, at least not as real-time as LS's dashboard. Do you have a solution for that?

Not really, I've also noticed a slight delay but I think we're just restricted by what the API allows!

Yes, their developer told me that it has one day delay and there's no plan to make a real-time API at the moment. I think the delay has a negative impact on your product, users will be confused if they find the revenue on your app is different from the Dashboard. I suggest you go to LS's Slack channel and give them suggestions to push them to make it. After all, you are making a great tool to help their users.

I noticed the thread you already started in their Slack, from which it looks like it's on their roadmap but I didn't see any timelines.

I think for now I would display the numbers for the last 30 days, and change it to all-time whenever the API switches to being real-time.

Awesome, thanks for the pointer! I'll try to get in touch with them next weekend.
