Lempis

Today, we are launching our original idea (that eventually led to Lempis the main product), our content management system for small- to medium-sized businesses' websites! At the moment, the CMS is in beta mode and thus only accessible to our German users. We're working hard on releasing it to everyone, though - in English, of course!
For the launch, we've prepared three templates for restaurant owners, but more are coming very soon and our templates will, besides restaurants, include websites for many different branches, such as hairdressers, gyms, accounting firms, freelancers and many more.
The whole concept is simple: you can start building a website by choosing a template. Then, you edit it according to your needs - every text and every image can be replaced by yours, but if you don't want to edit some of it, don't worry: it will stay there. Additionally, you can choose the main color of your website (seen on buttons, backgrounds etc.) and sometimes even a secondary color. After submitting, you can see the result of what you've just created. If you wish to further use our CMS and actually publish your website to the internet, you can create an account by paying a fixed price of 500€. Then, you can publish your website and edit it anytime!

An intense month later and Lempis is officially on the internet!
Being a one-man engineering team sure has its perks, but it's definitely sometimes hard to keep all the things you still need to make or improve in your head!
Now allow me to introduce to you our beautiful product...
Lempis is a HaaS (Hosting-as-a-Service) company aiming at anyone who has built and/or wants to build a website and publish it to the internet. You can host one website completely free of charge on our platform, no matter if it's just a static website or if it uses a database. We provide you with access to a MySQL/PostgreSQL database (depending on your needs) and give you the ability to upload your website's files within a .zip file. No FTP, no faulty server connections.
Is that all, you might ask? No, of course not. Lempis offers you a Pro plan as well, which costs 5€/month and you get some really cool additions, like an editor for editing any single one of your files directly on the server (again, no FTP or similar; you edit your file, save it and the changes are immediately visible). You also acquire the right to publish an unlimited amount of websites with a single account (e.g. good for freelancers and agencies) and you get a dedicated subdomain (free plan members get a subdirectory). Other features - like a CMS for business websites - are already underway, so do stay tuned! 😀

After working on another idea for a good 5 months (which is about to become one of the next features on Lempis - stay tuned...), my co-founder and I were thinking intensely about what we should name our new startup. We knew that we wanted it to be a .com domain, so we had to find a suitable name that was also available.
Eventually, we settled with Lempis (an anagram of "simple", our most important rule) and I think we chose correctly (feel free to share your opinion about that too!). Yet, while we were brainstorming, a thought started forming in my mind...
What if there was no such hassle? No thinking about domains and domain names, hosting providers and not having to worry about setting everything up, correcting DNS to point to your hosting provider etc. etc.
At first, it sounded brilliant. I set up the first version of the website within a few days and now it's on to the MVP!
