I built an app because I fell in love with a girl

A year ago I went to Peru for the first time. In Lima I met a girl and we went on a few dates. Her english was poor and my Spanish was even worse, so we even needed to use a translator app quite frequently to talk to each other. I tried to learn Spanish a few times before, but always gave up. She changed that. I was now finally motivated enough to follow through.

After investigating and trying lots of different methods I eventually stuck with the method of "Comprehensible Input". All it means is that you basically read, listen and watch a lot of content that you can understand mostly from its context. You don't do any grammar exercises, verb conjugations or even write or speak. All you do is consume. And this worked incredibly well. A year later my Spanish is good enough to understand TV shows without subtitles, and I can communicate with natives. Most importantly I can do that without thinking or translating in my head. It all happens instantly, like it should when having a conversation.

Since AI Language Models are incredible now I started working on this app that gives me Comprehensible Input that I actually care about. Content that I find interesting and that is adapted to my language level, an ability to easily create multimedia flashcards and progress tracking on the word-level. And this is Lenguia.

The short video on the website best explains what Lenguia can do: https://lenguia.com

We are now working on the product together. Me as a developer and she doing marketing. We hope we can change more peoples lives by letting them actually acquire a new language.
