Cold emailed someone with a lot of followers on Twitter who was unhappy with Substack. Got on a call and sold them on Letterdrop. Migrated them over and made sure they were happy. The nice things about famous users is that they help you build brand awareness. Led to lots of additional users signing up.
They reached out and wanted to buy an annual plan! Found us through Facebook Groups. Very exciting. Now to figure out how to reproduce it. This isn't an instant high growth product since it's a very competitive market, but learning all the intricacies and overlooked spots in the market by spending a lot of time on it.

Got a friend to be the first regular user. Helped me find a lot of bugs and provided feedback on the overall experience. Iterated to make it good and slowly started opening it up to more friends and also strangers from a writing community that I joined

Started off as a Spotify for newsletters. Writers wanted to only bundle with people they knew and trusted. Became a full-on newsletter publishing platform after talking to a number of users because it was hard to do anything interesting without owning the end -to-end.
