How we launched our MVP in 14 days

Hey!

We started working on Ligalio → a GDPR-compliant privacy policy generator (also for US companies) a bit more than a year ago.

Initially, we thought that launching an MVP would be very easy. It was, once we had the right setup. But to get there, we needed a 7-month "pre-launch" 🤣

During this period, one of our key learnings was to work in many small sprints. That's something that works well and keeps the team motivated.

Here you can read the full story of how we launched our MVP and started working on the business idea → https://ligalio.com/blog/mvp-in-14-days

How did you launch your MVP? And what were the main successes or obstacles?

My cofounder built a (very) rough prototype in 5 days, and we posted it on reddit as our "launch" to validate the idea. It led to 3 paying customers within a week, so we decided to invest more time into it and re-launched it a few more times.

Even now, we still try to cut our scope as much as possible or break a project into smaller parts so that we are releasing new features or improvements every 1-2 weeks. We think spending a few months on a project is too risky for us at our current early stage.

5 days is very efficient, great job! Just being curious, on which subreddits and where else did you launch your MVP versions?

Thanks! We were trying to reach developers so mostly web dev and web design subreddits. We did a pretty scrappy Product Hunt launch too (by the second week haha). Then we have been "launching" on Twitter and via emails.

For me, launching the MVP asap when I use the stack that I am most familiar

Great read, I think most people with ideas think that they need a developer right away. But you guys decided to try without one. And when it didn't go according to plan, you guys broke the problem down, which made it easier for a developer to join.

Thank you, glad you found it useful. Our dev process was definitely much smoother because the developer knew exactly what we need.
