Linguaso
Language Immersion through super powered YouTube videos
Oh, it has passed quite a lot of time since I got the idea. What have you been doing all this time?
Well, creating an attractive MVP for Linguaso was not an easy milestone. Here there are some of the main issues I've had along the way:
- Working with languages is super complicated. Languages are alive, complex and subjective and more if the language used is natural and casual, as it is in many of the videos we're working with.
- Do you know what's even more complicated than languages? Creating a great UX. The interface has taken looooots of time and effort and headaches. Just trying to make something as simple as possible for the user is super hard.
- Keeping the motivation was a bit hard sometimes. But, with this one, I have to say that I was very motivated and did an extra effort not to create another side-project.
I like to call this one my main side project.
And now it's ready to start making it more visible.
When I started learning French I knew that I had to spend as much time as possible consuming French content. That's why I read children books like Le Petit Nicolas or listened to some random French podcasts. I searched for YouTube videos with subtitles, too and saw that they existed! What if I added a real-time dictionary to these videos? And if I added some exercises to practice the vocabulary on them?
Linguaso started to exist.

About
Linguaso was born as a personal struggle I had when I started studying French. I wanted to make myself learn the language via entertaining immersion, instead of academic learning. And there, Linguaso started to exist.
