LinkDrop
Personal newsletter built from by bookmarking
It actually happened a few days ago but I wanted to wait until I was sure they weren't going to ask for a refund before celebrating.
After a year of putting this project on hold despite all the interest it received, I finally decided to push out the top 2 features people were asking for (sending on specific days + and an archive).
I sent out an email to every account that had saved a link in the last 2 months letting them know about the new feature, and despite screwing up the CTA link, I got someone to sign up.
I started LinkDrop as a fun side project a little over a year ago and the response has always been surprising and humbling.
Over the last month it's been featured in 2 productivity and design focused newsletters with a combined audience of 60k. This took me from about 300 signups to over 1k in ~3 weeks.
I wish I could say I learned something but I didn't even realize I was featured in those newsletters until I started responding to the flood of emails I was getting about the tool to ask how they heard of it.
I'm not really sure what to do next, LinkDrop has always been a "finished" side project for me and I now have other commitments. I'd like to add features that people have been requesting but I'm not sure if I can justify the work without adding pricing (which is a decent amount of work in and of itself).
If you're reading this and you have any thoughts please reach out to me! I could definitely use some advice from people who have found themselves in a similar position.

I built LinkDrop to practice more complex web/extension development, and to scratch my own itch of cleaning up my messy bookmarks.
