Reached $20K MRR!

Liinks recently crossed $20K MRR!

Over 4200 people pay for my little side project to centralize their online presence 🎉

I’ve learnt a lot since I launched in 2020, so I thought I’d share a few takeaways👇

1/ Validate your idea early 🚀

I launched Liinks on ProductHunt 10 days after starting its development. Validating early that people were willing to pay for Liinks boosted my confidence and provided a tangible metric to measure new feature success against.

2/ Good vs Bad customers 🤝

I've learned to differentiate good and bad customers. Good customers provide valuable feedback that benefit all. Bad customers have specific demands that drain time and energy. Keep the good ones happy while avoiding excessive catering to the bad.

3/ Getting (a bit) distracted is okay 🌟

I like to give myself a few weeks to explore new ideas when they come up. I usually return refreshed and ready to work on Liinks again with new learnings. Embrace distractions, but remember to always come back to your core project.

4/ Don't fall in love with your features 💔

I've shipped features that I thought would be game-changers but ended up flopping. I regularly review my feature set and ruthlessly cut what doesn't work. Avoiding clutter ensures a user-friendly experience. Simplify to amplify.

5/ Keep an eye on your users 👀

One key move I made early on was creating an easy admin interface to explore new profiles. This proved valuable for two reasons: understanding user behavior for feature prioritization and identifying and preventing abuse like spam and scams.

6/ Refactor, but make it thoughtful 🛠️

While new tech is enticing, constant refactoring consumes precious hours. I prioritize thoughtful refactoring when it significantly impedes progress or hampers performance/scalability. Balance wisely within limited bandwidth.

7/ Delegating is hard (for me)🕴️

Time is scarce with side-projects. I've tried delegating for Liinks, but lacked the bandwidth to support collaborators. For now, I handle everything myself. Improving delegation skills is on my agenda, but until then, I prioritize self-reliance.

8/ Slow growth is kind of nice🌱

Liinks will never be a billion dollar business, but if I continue to grow it responsibly, with low costs and high margins, I can generate some real passive income and keep full ownership of the business - without needing to deliver hyper growth.
