March 18, 2026 Linkidex 1.6.4 — link preview images and favicons.

Linkidex 1.6.4 — link preview images and favicons.

  • When you save a page via the browser extension, Linkidex now automatically extracts the page's Open Graph image and displays it as a thumbnail preview.

  • Favicons are also stored and displayed for each link. Both make it much easier to visually scan your saved links.

  • Preview images can be added, replaced, or removed from the Edit Link modal. Requires an active subscription since storing images costs money.

  • Also fixed a bug affecting public collections.

March 7, 2026 Just shipped Linkidex 1.6.0

1.6.0 is live

This release was focused on helping users find and organize their bookmarks faster. Highlights:

- Side drawer search — you can now search categories and tags without scrolling through long lists

- Search highlighting — matching text gets highlighted so you can see why a result showed up

- Advanced search operators — powered by Fuse.js extended search. Exact match, prefix/suffix, negation, AND/OR logic

- Customizable link views — switch between dense (Gmail-style) and detailed layouts, choose which fields to show/hide

- Sort everything — links by relevance, date, title, or view count. Categories and tags by date, title, or link count

This was a lot of frontend work but the app feels significantly more usable now, especially for people with large

collections.

June 11, 2025 Public Collections

This one has been in the works for a long time. I originally called “categories” collections years ago, but renamed them to eventually make room for this feature.

Users can create Public Collections - a list of links, categories, tags and folders that anyone can view, even if they don’t have a Linkidex account.

I was going to ship this last month with the Side Drawer Update, but the scope got too big, so I split it out. .

I’d love feedback, and am offering free access to anyone willing to help me improve Linkidex. Just shoot me an email david@linkidex.com

April 21, 2025 🚨 The Linkidex Side Drawer has been rewritten

The old version had separate Category and Tag dropdowns for your personal links and each of your orgs. It got messy fast.

What’s new:
• One filters dropdown: All / Personal / your orgs.
• You only see categories, tags, and links from that filter.
• Invalid drag targets get greyed out.
• Search now requires a link satisfy all filters by default, not just one.
• Category & Tag filters are single-select by default (alt-click for multi).

Also fixed a performance bug when resizing the Side Drawer, which has made the front end faster and more snappy.

January 28, 2025 Linkidex extensions are now live!

For the last month or so I have been updating my build scripts for Linkidex. These updates allow me to build Linkidex as both a web application and a manifest v3 browser extension. The work is now done, and both the Chrome and Firefox extensions are now live and are linked below.

About

My list of bookmarks grew to the point it was getting tedious navigating them. I realized I could make something that would suit my own needs better than any other tool currently on the market.
