What mattered most wasn't the revenue itself. It was understanding why they bought.

The big takeaway: they were not just worried about broken URLs. Their real problem was revenue leaking from product pages that still looked “alive” but were actually useless because the product was out of stock or effectively dead.

That keeps confirming something for me:
LinksWatcher is probably less of a “link checker” and more of a revenue protection tool for affiliate teams and creators with lots of product links.

Classic checks can say “200 OK” while the page is no longer monetizable in practice. That gap is exactly what I'm trying to solve.

Now I’m trying to learn from this first customer:

• what made them trust a new tool

• what feature made the difference

• and whether this is the same pain other affiliate publishers / agencies feel too

what usually convinced your first real customers to buy?

I just launched LinksWatcher on Product Hunt today and, well... it’s currently sitting at #251 with 0 points.

While that might look like a total fail, I’m actually more excited than ever. Why? Because I realized my tool isn't for the general "launch hunters," it's for serious affiliate marketers and agencies who are tired of "Zombie Pages".

The problem: Most link checkers only look for "200 OK" status codes. But a page can be "up" while the product is actually out of stock or the buy button is missing. This "invisible leak" costs affiliates about 15% of their revenue.

The solution: I built an AI Vision engine that "sees" the page like a human would. It detects if the product is actually there, not just if the link works.

I'm moving away from the "launch hype" and focusing on direct outreach to agencies now.

I’m curious: How do you guys currently monitor out-of-stock products on your niche sites? Manual checks, or do you trust your APIs?
