Lists

I've been a little apprehensive of launching on Product Hunt, since there are so many articles that say there is a "best" way to do it... Finding a hunter, launching at a specific time, not causing a "voting ring," getting enough votes at the right time, etc. It seemed like so much work to do it to get a result that I never did.

But, since I launched LIsts as a Blockstack app, I needed to launch by a certain date to participate in the "App Mining" program. So I just decided to hunt myself. The only major blocker was that you need to have an account for more than a week to hunt a product, but luckily I had created one before.

I was pretty sure I wouldn't see any results, so I just posted to my app's FB page about the launch and my own FB page, but the next day, I found I had made it to #3 Product of the Day with only 17 votes!

I set a goal to finish the app within two weeks and I made it!

I took an idea I've had for a while (attendance tracking) and decided to build on Blockstack, which uses the blockchain for authentication. It was quite challenging to figure out how to work with the data without a traditional database, but I was able to just in time.
