March 20, 2020 I've Neglected My Project

I've thoroughly neglected this project over the past couple of months. I keep saying to myself "I must do some more work on LocoCMS," but there always seems to be something else that pops up. I reprimand myself over my poor time management and feel a pang of guilt for my lonely project, but not so much guilt that I actually do anything about it.

Maybe one small silver lining from the whole COVID-19 crisis is that it'll give me more time work on this and any other side projects. I don't plan on joining any YouTube choirs, so it doesn't look like there'll be much else to do for the next couple of months anyway. I'll just write code and hoard toilet rolls.

January 6, 2020 Launched Landing Page

I've launched a new landing page for LocoCMS - lococms.net

The aim is to get anyone interested to sign up for our newsletter and stay up-to-date with the project's progress in the coming months.

The page itself is built with Laravel and Vue, which seems only fitting as those are the technologies the CMS will be built on.

The next step now will be getting feedback on the landing page, starting with IH. A little bit daunting but it will be good to hear what people think.

Edit: I'd also appreciate any feedback you might have on the landing page, there's a thread here https://www.indiehackers.com/post/feedback-on-landing-page-for-upcoming-project-49ff4fcecb

November 29, 2019 Began Work on LocoCMS

For a while I've been wanting to create a Laravel package with the CMS features I'm looking for, so now I've created a design and started putting it together.

I've created a few websites in Laravel that needed some form of CMS - a client that wants to write blogs posts or that sort of thing. I don't like to reinvent the wheel, but I wasn't really happy with any of the options already available for adding a user friendly CMS to a Laravel site. That's when I decided to create my own.

I started making the design using Figma. I think Figma is a great tool for creating webpage mockups, it's east to do and really make the ideas feel more tangible. I put together a design for each page that will appear in the CMS dashboard. The idea will be to create reusable Vue components, which made the design process a bit quicker as well.

I'm now onto creating the barebones of a Laravel project that over time will hopefully become a Composer package.

As a web developer with Laravel I've found myself needing CMS features on sites. LocoCMS is a Laravel package that can be used with new or existing projects that is flexible for developers and simple for clients.
