Logo Design for the Budget Conscious
Get a Custom Logo done at Affordable Prices
Previously I tried out a referral program, and the results were alright, but not spectacular. I will need to work on the details more before giving it another go.
In the meantime, I'm experimenting with another approach which has been showing some promise — running a special promotion. Basically I'm limiting supply to create demand, by offering my logo design service to the first 20 clients at a 50% discount for $150 (from the usual $300), which includes 3 initial concepts, the source vector files as deliverables, and as many revisions as necessary until the design meets their expectations.
I started last week, and have landed 6 projects so far using this method. I'm extending this promotion to Indie Hackers as well, so if you're interested, feel free to message me for more details. Cheers!
Starting today, I'm trying out a referral program, where any person or business with a successful referral will get 20% of the sale. For example, if a referral buys a logo design for $200, you will receive $40 as commission or discount coupon for your next project with me.
I will first test this out here and on LinkedIn, where I have more than 300 connections. So if you know someone who needs a logo design, feel free to message me for a free consultation at contact.johnery@gmail.com. You can view my website at http://johnery.com/logos.html
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Very interested to see the results of your referral program :) I'm going to talk about it around me.

I'm not sure it will be that popular, as logos/rebrands are generally a one time thing and it'd be pretty rare for them to need multiple logos.
Have you considered just paying people cash (a cut of the sale), or at least giving them the option? In my experience it performs a lot better than offering product discounts or freebies.

Actually that makes much more sense. I'll change the program to what you suggested. Thanks so much for your advice!

Logo Design is now making $3,000 a month, enough to cover my rent and expenses!
Probably the biggest thing that helped me get here was promoting my service more. I'm currently trying out various marketing channels and seeing success for some of them.
This is super exciting, but I'm only half way to my goal of $6,000 a month. Got to hustle more…

As a graphic designer, I always am passionate about logo design and branding, so it made sense for me to create and provide this service to businesses and personal brands.

Hey John! Designer here. I have mixed feelings about how cheaply you are pricing your very skilled and valuable design work. You're reporting $3k a month which means you've got to be doing a minimum of 10 projects a month. That sounds like an absolute grind!
I can't really easily access your pricing through your site, but I have a proposition for you that could double your income from logo projects.
I think you should offer different levels of logo packages. A logo package is the folder of logo files you send your client at the end of the project. You could have different price points for different packages:
My tool makes deluxe logo packages from your final logo file in under 5 minutes. I think you could definitely benefit from checking it out. thelogopackage.com
