Logo Game
A game for guessing logos
A couple of days ago I made it onto the indie hackers newsletter! Luckily I haven't shared my website outside of the IH community so I have some very clean metrics on the traffic that being a top milestone on IH + getting on the newsletter brought to my site.
Some interesting things I've observed:
- Being on the newsletter doesn't give that much of a difference in traffic compared to being #1/#2 on the milestones the previous day
- When you post a milestone it appears on the posts feed the next day (not sure if this is only for top milestones or all milestones)
- Most of the traffic came during 6AM-9AM PST. I'm assuming this is when people open their newsletters the most?
- A total of 62 people came from Indie Hackers
** NOTE: to see pictures, go to the Logo Game's product page. There appears to be a bug on indie hackers that is preventing images from showing up elsewhere**
Traffic that day:

Sessions by country:

Sessions by device:

Day before vs day of newsletter:

With no marketing (yet!), the Logo Game has reached 50 users, 20 reviews on the App Store, and has generated $5 in revenue. I'm currently waiting for the Google Play store to launch the android version of my app. So far the reviews have been really positive with people really enjoying the game. Some direct feedback I got back was:
"Fun game that rewards you with cool facts about each company when you answer correctly! Love it!"
"App is very slick. I played through all the levels in one sitting. I'm a pro"
I'm planning on going full steam ahead once the Android build has launched. I'm having some issues pushing the latest build out on the App Store, but the changes are very minor.

Great, love the right answer anim. keeps you going. Can you share the breakdown of revenue? Do you have ads or all iap?

Glad you like that feature! It was actually a feature request from an early user. Right now revenue is 100% ads. I just launched IAP last update, so I think it's too early to tell whether or not it will be successful.

The landing page is on point, too. What's your plan for the full steam stage?

thanks! the full plan is to launch a few blog posts to help SEO and launch on a couple of sites like product hunt, show HN, etc.

Congrats!
PS. Can't open your website from Russia without VPN.

oh man! that's unfortunately. do you know if all netlify sites get blocked from russia? that's my hosting service

yep, I think so. I've tried to open it: basic url (https://www.netlify.com/) opened without any problems, but all static files (jpg, css, js,..) are failed to load.
Maybe it depends on internet provider, but mine doesn't want to open)
I'll try to load your website tomorrow from office with another provider.Upd. Works well from office. Looks like my home internet provider decided to block this host for some reason.

Congratulations! The app looks very slick :) How did you end up getting the 50 users? Was it just folks searching on the app/play store?

Thanks! Unfortunately, I'm not listed very high on the app store for the term "Logo Game"/"Logo Quiz" yet so I believe at most 1 or 2 downloads came from people searching on the app store. Some of the users are friends, some are the indie hackers community, and the rest are WoM

Apple has approved my changes and I was able to push a new version out to the app store. Looks like the features I added are a hit! I got great feedback from some users and a couple of them even ran through all the current levels in one sitting. Looking forward to launching a new level on Monday!

The logo game has made it's first dollar through ads! π I truly believe that a good and useful product will make money so I'll be working this weekend on some quality of life improvements for the logo game.
So far the only expense for the logo game has been for the Apple Developer program ($99). We're 1% of the way there to profitability!

After a couple of months working on the logo game of my dreams, I've finally launched it on the iOS app store! It's time to get some users now and feedback.
We originally planned on launching a beta to our friends and family, but I wanted to announce it on Indie Hackers for any fellow makers out there to give it a try!

I always loved playing logo games when I grew up. The current logo games don't update with new levels and get stale. The logo game I built will have weekly updates with new levels!
