Loopahead
English Bootcamp for Programmers
Had an overall total of 125 applicants, over 60% women which is a rare occurrence in tech, so that is very promising. We are going to start with a small batch of 12 to get started and it will probably end up being smaller after the 7-day trial as we expect people to have underestimated the time commitment, from previous experiences we've had with educational programs.
Set up a landing page. Check it out http://loopahead.com/
Used Strikingly and a form with Typeform. I took real photography and collected feedback from previous students that were learning English with my partner's traditional model.
Shared to a limited group of engineers in Colombia and decided to sponsor 100% of the cost for Latina Developers through my non-profit Coderise.
What we've learned so far:
- People want English plus soft skills mentorship
- Many suggested real job interviews as a practice to be added to the curriculum, so we've added that in as well.
- A company reached out to sponsor women as well, there may be a B2B opportunity here.

We also finalized the learning methodology/curriculum centered around live remote interviews, recorded interviews, recorded peer-to-peer mock interviews, live group news discussions, and personalized feedback by certified English teachers.

About
I want to help engineers outside of the U.S. be able to land better paying remote jobs with U.S. or global companies. Often the obstacle is English, not programming skills.
